Playoff Superlatives: Texas

The first round of the Texas high school playoffs is well underway with Thursday and Friday games having been played. As is usually the case, there were a number of scintillating performances out of the gates, including one of the top sophomore running backs in the country and a senior running back that had one of the best 11 game season in the storied states history.

Langham Creek's Connor Feist has returned from injury to have a tremendous senior season, and that now includes a playoff win over Aldine Eisenhower.

Friday Results

Langham Creek 38, Aldine Eisenhower 21
Langham Creek 2013 quarterback Connor Feist hit on 11 of 24 passes (1 INT) for 188 yards and a TD 47 and rushed for 65 yards and 2 TD’s (11 and 2) on nine carries.

Eisenhower 2014 RB and Texas commitment Donald Catalon rushed for 141 yards on 23 carries, and caught two passes for 12 yards.

The Woodlands 66, Klein Collins 42
The Woodlands class of 2015 running back Patrick Carr (5-9, 180) rushed for 207 yards on 30 carries and now has nearly 1,900 yards in 11 games as a sophomore. Northwestern tight end commit Jayme Taylor caught one pass for 11 yards, and rushed for 10 yards and 3 TD’s (6, 1 and 1) on four carries.

Klein Collins 2014 DB Jordan Thomas rushed for 57 yards and a TD (5) on five carries, and caught five passes for 93 yards and a TD (31).

Sugar Land Dulles 42, Brazoswood 34
Dulles CB and Alabama commitment Maurice Smith caught five passes for 103 yards and 2 TD’s (72 and 8).

Alief Elsik 38, Cypress Falls 10
Elsik 2013 WR/Ath. Casey Williams caught two passes for 75 yards and a TD (72).

Cy Falls 2013 wide receiver Temi Alaka caught six passes for 95 yards.

USC commit Torrodney Prevot scored two defensive touchdowns in a first round win Friday.

North Shore 48, Pasadena Dobie 7
North Shore 2013 Ath. Micah Thomas hit on three of four passes for 89 yards and 2 TD’s (6 and 4), and rushed for 90 yards and a TD (42) on eight carries.

Alief Taylor 28, Cy-Fair 7
USC commitment Torrodney Prevot returned a fumble 45 yards for a TD, and returned an interception two yards for a score. TCU running back commitment Trevorris Johnson rushed for 172 yards and a TD (40) on 26 carries. Class of 2014 WR Keenen Brown caught three passes for 35 yards and a TD (15).

Houston Lamar 36, Katy Seven Lakes 33
Lamar 2014 quarterback Darrell Colbert completed 14 of 31 passes (1 INT) for 274 yards and 4 TD’s (1, 35, 45 and 47), and rushed for 49 yards on seven carries. Class of 2014 wide receiver Shelby Walker caught three passes for 51 yards and a TD (45).

Seven Lakes class of 2015 WR/Ath. Braeden West rushed for 145 yards and a TD (2) on 30 carries.

Deer Park 2014 quarterback Conner Means hit on seven of 18 passes (1 INT) for 142 yards and a TD (43), and rushed for 91 yards and a TD (29) on 12 carries.

Lufkin WR and SMU commitment Jabryce Taylor caught six passes for 59 yards and 2 TD’s (5 and 13).

DeKaney QB and Houston commitment D’Juan Hines hit on seven of 17 passes (1 INT) for 119 yards and 2 TD’s (56 and 4). Class of 2014 running back Demarcus Felton rushed for 185 yards and a TD (2) on 26 carries.

Humble Summer Creek 51, Vidor 27
Summer Creek 2014 quarterback Aaron Sharp hit on 15 of 24 passes for 335 yards and 6 TD’s (10, 15, 27, 64, 27 and 61), and rushed for 108 yards and a TD (29) on seven carries.

Texas A&M commit James White and top ranked Pearland Dawson advanced to the second round of the 4A playoffs Friday night.

Angleton 48, Friendswood 41
Friendswood 2013 Ath. Jordan Wood rushed 50 times for 361 yards and 5 TD’s (2, 10, 12, 3 and 9), and completed nine of 11 passes for 168 yards and a TD (18).

Angleton 2014 Ath. TJ Austin hit on three of 13 passes for 51 yards. Class of 2013 wide receiver Jalyn Judkins caught one pass for 28 yards.

Pearland Dawson 28, Richmond Foster 14
Dawson RB and Texas A&M commitment James White rushed for 175 yards and 2 TD’s (4 and 25). Class of 2014 WR Tony Upchurch caught two passes for 48 yards and a TD (43).

Livingston Ath. and Texas commitment Chevoski Collins caught one pass for 18 yards, and hit on two of four passes (1 INT) for 19 yards.

Texas City 2014 WR and Oklahoma commitment Armanti Foreman caught five passes for 204 yards and a TD (67). Class of 2014 Ath. D’Onta Foreman rushed for 146 yards and 2 TD’s (52 and 21) on 14 carries.

WO-S Ath. and SMU commitment J’Marcus Rhodes caught six passes for 139 yards and 2 TD’s (41 and 7). WO-S held Cleveland to 5 total yards.

SLC QB and Texas A&M commitment Kenny Hill hit on 16 of 17 passes for 256 yards and 3 TD’s (20, 27 and 63), and rushed for 137 yards and 2 TD’s (3 and 64) on six carries. Class of 2014 running back AJ Ezzard rushed for 82 yards and 2 TD’s (57 and 10) on eight carries.

Red Oak TE and SMU commitment Jeremiah Gaines rushed for 33 yards and a TD (1) on four carries, and caught one pass for 36 yards.

Texas commitment Jake Oliver added to his state receiving records in a first round victory last night.

Whitehouse 2014 QB Patrick Mahomes hit on 23 of 39 passes (1 INT) for 330 yards and 4 TD’s (21, 11, 51 and 3). Texas Tech WR commitment Dylan Cantrell caught nine passes for 152 yards and 2 TD’s (11 and 51).
Ennis 2014 Ath. Terence Williams rushed for 194 yards and a TD (53) on 26 carries. Washington State DE/LB commitment Malik Jenkins returned a fumble 43 yards for a score.

Jesuit WR and Texas commitment Jake Oliver caught seven passes for 83 yards and a TD (34). Oklahoma ILB commitment Jordan Mastrogiovanni caught TD passes of three and four yards.

Little Elm 2013 running back Ke’aun Kinner rushed for 237 yards and 2 TD’s (4 and 79) on 34 carries. He ends his sensational season with 374 carries for 2,929 yards in 11 games.

Lovejoy 40, Hallsville 13
Lovejoy freshman quarterback Bowman Sells completed 17 of 23 passes (1 INT) for 297 yards and a TD (45), and rushed for 21 yards on eight carries. The 2016 prospect now has 2,520 yards passing and 25 TD’s in 11 games.

Mansfield 41, Killeen High 21
Mansfield class of 2015 RB/Ath. Julius Lewis rushed for 97 yards on six carries.

Dallas Skyline 35, Plano High 14
Skyline QB and Ole Miss commitment Devante Kincade hit on 16 of 19 passes (1 INT) for 165 yards and 2 TD’s (7 and 22), and rushed for 30 yards on 11 carries. Oklahoma State WR commitment Ra’Shaad Samples caught four passes for 53 yards and a TD (22).

Plano QB and UConn commitment Richard Lagow hit on 12 of 26 passes for 216 yards and a TD (22).

West 2015 RB/Ath. Soso Jamabo rushed for 175 yards and 5 TD’s (1, 4, 4, 4 and 5) on 30 carries, and caught one pass for 37 yards.

Texas 2014 QB commitment Jerrod Heard had a big night in a Denton Guyer first round win over Saginaw.

Allen 2015 QB Kyler Murray hit on 11 of 14 passes for 189 yards and 3 TD’s (13, 19 and 24), and rushed for 102 yards and a TD (50) on eight carries.

Sachse 2014 Ath. Kent Myers hit on 11 of 25 passes (1 INT) for 161 yards, and rushed for 263 yards and 4 TD’s (27, 70, 47 and 76) on 19 carries. Class of 2014 wide receiver Tyrique Edwards caught five passes for 47 yards.

Guyer 2014 QB and Texas commitment Jerrod Heard hit on 20 of 31 passes (1 INT) for 245 yards and a TD (12), and rushed for 108 yards and 2 TD’s (2 and 3) on 18 carries. Arizona State WR commitment Ellis Jefferson caught eight passes for 78 yards and a TD (12).

Lincoln 2014 Ath. Derrick Neal caught two passes for 33 yards, and rushed for 13 yards on two carries. Class of 2014 Ath. Erick Neal hit on nine of 14 passes for 88 yards, and rushed for 62 yards and a TD (6) on 16 carries.

Oklahoma State WR commitment Marcell Ateman turned in one of the top individual performances on Friday.

West Mesquite class of 2015 quarterback Chason Virgil completed 16 of 22 passes (2 INT’s) for 147 yards, and rushed for 22 yards on 11 carries. Texas A&M safety commitment Kameron Miles rushed for 30 yards and 2 TD’s (1 and 10) on four carries. Class of 2015 wide receiver Akilian Butler caught two passes for 45 yards.
