This is my own perspective. Through the first two trimesters, a fetus is a parasite living on the women its growing inside of and its her decision about what to do with it. After that; the fetus becomes a viable life form who can life without mommy even if forced out of uterus prematurely. There is no question that live term abortion is murder. As a medical professional, my views on abortion have evolved to the point that I can't differentiate any third term abortion from infanticide and murder. If a woman can't get her shit together and have an abortion by the 26th week; she should give birth to the kid, that's her problem. She can carry it for another couple of months and then dump it on an adopton agency or the government, rather than killing it.

Its this simple. If you support third term abortion; intellectually you have to support infanticide. There is no difference in term of viability.

    I agree with this.

  • I have to draw the line much earlier. A one year old child (and older) would die without the nurture of its parent to feed it, protect it, shelter it, etc. Whether it is breathing air or amniotic fluid it is still dependent on someone else to keep it alive. Both can feel pain, emotion and are responsive. One month in utero, or one year old neither live with out help from another. I think as humans we try to rationalize to the point we can accept what we want to accept to justify what we do. I get that. I am amazed to see how perfect little kids are even after only a few weeks in utero on ultrasound or sadly in the times I have seen them in the emergency room during miscarriages or in large jars after being aborted when I was in medical school. The latter changed my views on this forever.

The most circuitous thread ever. Started out talking about friends letting friends down to abortions. Gotta love it.
