And yet people voted for Romney and still went and filed for food stamps Wednesday morning. It goes both ways. I voted for Obama because of Romney and crew's views on rape, incest and abortion mainly. Followed closely by gay marriage and Mitts lack of transparency. I'm not one to talk politics because frankly it ruffles feathers and I don't like to ruffle my friends feathers. So with that being said, you won't see another political post from me.

I am conservative and have no idea why a working person would vote for Obama and his agenda, but I also realize that others have a different mind set and there are many issues that one votes on besides fiscal issues. I have a partner and close family members and friends that are liberal/progressive and for the life of me just do not see how. We cordially talk about the issues but in the end agree to disagree, just as I do with those of different religions and life styles.
I also get the feeling that what some are getting at is feeling they are now disliked because they have a different view point. This should never happen and is similar to hating some one because they are a different race or religious belief. When you threaten a man's livelihood or beliefs he can get pretty intense and I understand this. My feeling is: hate the idea but like the person where ever possible. I think some of the animosity here came from several threads that got into name calling and crossed the lines of how friends act towards each other. If any are guilty of this then private discussions may be in order but would pm on this so as not to risk amplifying the issue.
My two cents.

You talk about lack of transparency. Tell me the last time Obama said anything that was honest. Start with Benghazi and go from there. Try to explain why new jobless claims jumped by 80,000 the week after the election after having dropped continually before the election. I hope you have the brains to know that everytime Obama speaks, he lies.
Even gay marriage is a transfer of wealth. No one in main stream politics want to restrict what people do in their bedroom. The only thing gay marriage changes is that it gives massive access to marriage monetary benefits to gays, when their is no societal reason to do so. I don't support homosexuality; but I'm not a blatant homophobe. This is will surprise you; but my personal trainer is openly gay. He's a good guy, works his ass off. I went out of my way to help him get his job back as gym director at my club. But I'm not in favor of his current partner get health benefits at my expense.
From my perspective; only fools make social issues their primary reason for voting, especially during times when our economy is on the verge of imploding. I'm pro-abortion within limits. I think Republicans are fools for opposing abortion in any case. But anyone who doesn't vote their pocketbook before anything else is and idiot. Here are two realities. Abortion is here to stay, regardless of what conservative Christians want. Roe v Wade is here to stay, except perhaps being changed in the margins such as calling live birth abortions illegal. Equally, gay marriage is a states rights issue, not a national one .
If you completely flipped social issues and had Democrats opposing abortion and gay rights and Republicans supporting the opposites; but keeping economic issues the same; my vote wouldn't change. The real issue that seperates liberals and conservative is the issue of transfer of wealth. If you don't think that the core of the progressive liberal agenda is taking money from one class of person and giving it to another; you need to go back to the books and learn what you are actually voting for.
Until you understand that basic premise; you are best to stay away from posting on political issues.

That must be one mean block where you live. Or is it just a result of the Food Stamps not being enough to get you the nutrition you need to supply blood circulation to your brain.
Inquiring minds want to give a shit what your feeble mind thinks.

Forcing someone who was raped by a complete stranger or even worse,a family member,to have a child is terrible. But since youre so worried about our economy, explain to me how more illegitimate children in the world results in less government funded living arrangements. Then explain to me how incest resulting in mental and physical retardation doesn't also drain government resources.
And I could give two shits less what a religious document says about marriage. That's all I have to say about that part of your post.

I truly believe that many really do not know why they believe what they do on the abortion issue and that people can change their view point on this issue if they consider it more honestly and fully.
The link below is one of the better pieces i have seen on the thought process of abortion for those who want to test their viewpoint. The presenter has unique ability to talk about the issue with out condemning those who share the opposite view. I was quite impressed with the openness of those who he talked to and found it an excellent short video.

I don't think you are a bad guy; but it would have payed you to look at the multiple benefits given to spouses under marriage. I'm going to write it off to ignorance. Spouses in marriage are given full medical benefits. Marries couples are given tax benefits. The survivor spouse is given retirement benefits. All written into federal law to encourage married people to stay together. My suggestion to you is to actually take a couple of minutes and google the subject before you ask me a stupid question. Smart people actually know what they are asking before they ask a question.
And it has nothing to do with sympathy. I made that kind of clear already in this thread. I was about to saying something ugly; but I stopped,

This is my own perspective. Through the first two trimesters, a fetus is a parasite living on the women its growing inside of and its her decision about what to do with it. After that; the fetus becomes a viable life form who can life without mommy even if forced out of uterus prematurely. There is no question that live term abortion is murder. As a medical professional, my views on abortion have evolved to the point that I can't differentiate any third term abortion from infanticide and murder. If a woman can't get her shit together and have an abortion by the 26th week; she should give birth to the kid, that's her problem. She can carry it for another couple of months and then dump it on an adopton agency or the government, rather than killing it.
Its this simple. If you support third term abortion; intellectually you have to support infanticide. There is no difference in term of viability.
