I have the greenest, most plush lawn on the block. My problem was I'm in a relatively new neighborhood with zero mature trees. After much research I discovered the Pawlonia Elongata aka Dragon Tree.
It is the fastest growing tree in the world. It grew 8" in the last 7 days and a total of about 21" in the first month. It will be a great shade tree as it has huge leaves.
In the spring it gets great big fragrant purple blooms.

I'm that guy too! After several deployments to Iraq and Afganistan I took to lawn care and growing roses as kind of therapy. It does me good to make things look nice instead of making hajjis look like hamburger meat. Seriously it sounds gay but it works .
