Better hope the judge doesn't read the OT board.

The judge is probably reading the board as well.

I know I'm the oddball here, but sign me up anytime you want to. It may be boring, but it beats working so long as you don't get one of those nasty sequestered for 6+ month high profile trials.

I did not know you were an attorney? Attorney= no jury duty usually.

I'm not an attorney.

When I get a notice, I go to the courthouse.
I patiently listen to the judge give their wonderful message about how our great court system works.

During voir dior, I raise my hand and say,

"I have a philosophical difference with the judge. I think the defendant should have to prove their innocence."
Attorney - "why do you feel that way?"
"Several people thought he was guilty enough to be on trial. The arresting officer thought he was guilty. The District Attorney thought he was guilty enough to stand trial and so did the grand jury. He should have to prove he's innocent."

Essentially, I pissed the judge off by saying that. The defense attorney thinks there are better options. And the prosecutor doesn't want grounds for a mistrial.

One time I did that. When it got to my number, the defense attorney raised his hand to signal an automatic exemption (or whatever it's called) The judge said, "save it, this one is on me."

If I don't want to be on the jury, I won't be. Period.

They don't like it when you don't agree with them. The people most likely to be picked for the jury are the ones that say nothing during voir dire.

The last time I was selected to a jury it was for a Manslaughter DWI case. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make in my life, as I knew both families would be affected. Never want to do it again.
