The common thought is that the Astros signed 3 guys with Top 10-15 talent. By taking Correa 1st overall we saved enough money to sign McCullers and Ruiz. The club signed 19 of its top 20 picks, I think, and that is how the system is restocked. It will be a few years before we know if it pans out, but I read maybe 4 or 5 baseball sites that track the draft and minor leagues....all said we nailed it.

Wandy to the Pirates for 2 former UT signees (Colton Cain and Robbie Grossman)! If Grossman develops this is a total steal.
Great job by Jeff Luhnow and Jim Crane in unloading every dude on the roster that was scheduled to make big money next season. The rebuilding has begun in earnest. They signed their top draft choices, unloaded unproductive guys with big contracts and are seeing what the youth can do. The MLB product will stink on the field for a bit, but this is the way to properly rebuild.

Astros trade Chris Johnson to Arizona...................this franchise is becoming a laughing stock of professional sports. If you play well they trade you or send you to AAA (Wallace is an example)
The Diamondbacks have acquired third baseman Chris Johnson from the Astros for minor league outfielders Marc Krauss and Bobby Borchering, the teams announced. Borchering, 21, was Arizona's first round pick in the 2009 draft while Krauss, 24, was taken in the second round of the same draft.

They traded a crappy big leaguer for prospects in the middle of a rebuilding project with new ownership. They are indeed the laughing stock of baseball, but this is exactly what they are supposed to be doing. Not sure how anyone can complain about all of their moves this year....

Crappy big league prospect..............methinks you haven't watched CJ this year. Johnson had a disappointing year last year but he has played very well this year. Yes they've made some moves but you (nor I) know if they are going to pan out. Some of the young players and drafted have good resumes. I know this the 2 "moves" pitching in the bullpen have been terrible. Plus the move to the AL is still on this ownership's watch.............I some posters here love to defend uncle drayton and Crane (not saying you are defending drayton) but the record is what you say you are not what you wish it was.

I would agree with you if we were talking about last year. But this year he has shown maturity and more patience at the plate. (especially the last month) Is he an all-star.........no but I could see him as a building block batting in the 6th hole. Plus he is good in the clubhouse. Also he takes coaching..............unusual in today's pro athletes.
