during SOTU address. Brings her parents to lay the guilt trip on people as if it's our fault.
They deserve a vote.
We deserve our rights.
Gaby Giffords deserves a vote.
Aurora, Sandy Hook, etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah deserve a vote.
The dude wants to take away your right to bear arms and he will use whoever he has to in order to see it happen. Believe it. Its not hard to get people to agree with what he is suggesting through use of emotion so they fail to realize they are slowly losing rights given to them by the consitution. You don't take it away all at once. Just a little at a time. He's an embarassment to the history of this country and what it really stands for.
He is as shameless as he is incompetent.
All sales pitch with no practical solutions. And people said Reagan was just a talking head? Wow.
Holy crap? Minimum wage recommended to $9 now?
I'm a teacher and am married to a teacher. We won't get a raise if this goes through ... Certainly not in Texas right now. ... If he were to actually get this through, inflation will probably murder my family. ... Not that it is far from doing that as it currently stands. ... I believe a lot of middle class families will be in the same position.
That, btw, would be four hikes since 2007 --- from $5.15. Gee, wonder why milk is just shy of $4 a gallon?
My high school kids don't understand inflation until I explain it. Obama still doesn't realize it. If we print one million dollars for everyone in the nation, it doesn't solve poverty! Or does Obama just realize that a lot of Americans don't grasp that concept?

That's precisely the issue for me.
No one is saying "gun control" or regulations are a bad thing. It's just a question of where does it stop?
Say we "ban" big magazines. Will the government leave me alone now if I choose to own a rifle? Or will they come along ten years later and take another little piece. Sorry folks, no rifles, shotguns only. Hope you like fowl.
And then what?
There are no promises that this legislation would be final. Things change and laws evolve.
This also isn't a public safety issue for me. It's a issue about the point or philosophy of this country. This isn't just about being able to go off and shoot a few rounds on the weekend. It's much bigger. But you're right. The people will tune-in to get emotionally worked up by the media and go along with it.

+1 to the Teach
Y'all don't get paid nearly enough, and work too damn much. God Bless.
And the real problem remains that there are so many folks who actually believe what they are being told by Mr. Obama and the media. Make no mistake, Ms. Giffords is definitely lucky to be alive, but James Holmes likely won't be so fortunate, nor will our right to defend ourselves survive unless we wake up soon.
The emotional attacks have been incredibly well planned. Just look: those who claim they've learned we're being fed constant B.S. by the press suddenly believe all the garbage, even when it obviously makes no sense, like with Sandy Hook. So many out there hanging on strings and don't even know it.
Hook 'Em! ...'til early in the morn.
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. We obviously don't do it for the money. I just hope I can get more and more of my kids to learn more than facts, but also how to think for themselves and understand the world around them (including getting a better BS detector). Unfortunately, our system and society is failing too often to do that or we wouldn't be facing problems like a deficit that goes up more than a million a minute....
Likely they'll stop with large magazines and maybe even go after semi-automatics. For now.
Really, how many murders are committed with "assault rifles" anyway? Zilch. But 'someone' knows that without them, the general populace is basically defenseless, especially against what our Homeland Security force is developing into. I thought that's what the military was for - to defend our country. And we've still got Americans shouting down others of us waving warning flags about this? Pathetic.
Not a parent, but if I was I'd want a teacher like you to be educating my kid(s).
Furthermore, I'm a staunch believer that our armed populace is one of the major reasons why people don't F with us. That and the technological advances our military uses force any a-holes that want to take a shot to use drastic measures, or what we call terrorism. And logistically, a land invasion of North America by an outside force just doesn't make sense. China maybe? You'd think Homeland Security would be all about having armed and law abiding citizens, not limiting the public's ability to keep their own home secure.
Pus Pocket Piece of Shit in the oval office these days.
$9 per hour minimum wage ?
The man is dumber than a box of rocks.
Dumber than Joe Biden on his dumbest day.
It's the same thing with his idea that if use take away Big Oil/Gas tax deductions they will not try to recoup that money somehow? He doesn't understand basic economic theory or that these companies are responsible to their share holders to make profit.
Of course if he had his way he would probably cap profit for most industries, especially the ones he deems to be destructive.
I agree that minimum wage at $9 is ridiculous, does he not realize that minimum wage is not meant for families to live on, it's meant for people to enter the work force and to eventually work their way off of it.
I don't think the $9 wage will pass ... It it too stupid, even for Congress. But, if it did ... Wow.
Just did the math to see if I was being over dramatic. During my coaching season, I would be fairly close to minimum wage. Probably about $12 an hour. ... That is based not on a theoretical 40 hour week, but what I actually work. ... And that is counting only the standard 187 day teacher contract, not stretching it as though I'm getting paid for summer (which would make my pay look far worse). ... It also, by the way, figures in the fact that I have 13 years of experience and two coaching stipends as opposed to being a first year teacher at the bottom of the pay scale.
Raise the minimum wage high enough, I almost might as well stay home, watch television and collect unemployment ... If I was that sort of person....
This is the exact reason there are so many deadbeats now. Its easier.
Obama is great. Support you leader. Stop with all the hate. Your way of thinking is obviously on the losing side, so come to the winning side.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
Hate? Aren't you being a drama queen this morning?
Losing side? The battle for the citizen's right to bear arms hasn't even begun, bruh.
Oh, the right to bear arms wont change and President Obama isnt trying to take it. But, the way I see it, if you want to have guns, dont act all shocked when some idiot shoots up the joint. Just deal with it. They go hand in hand.
And the way I see it, if you want to drive a car, don't act all shocked when some idiot gets drunk and plows into you head-on and paralyzes your family. Just deal with it. You know, since you owning a car and the idiot owning a care go hand in hand.
I agree. Alcohol is legal, so just deal with having the occasional drunk driver crossing the center line. They go hand in hand. Same as the guns. Just accept the fact that there will be some idiot that shoots up the joint. Gun ownership will do that. Just hope that youre not there when it happens.
Gun ownership does NOT do anything. It's not a person. It can't function. That's where you are wrong. Gun ownership doesn't shoot up joints. I see you are one of those pass the buck, don't hold anyone accountable types. Makes sense.
But even if we dismissed your hopelessly asinine opinion that "gun ownership will do that."
And? So what?
And so what is exactly what I am saying. People are going to own guns, legally and illegally, and sandy hook type things will continue. Gun ownership/possession give people the opportunity to do that. All I am saying is that with gun ownership comes gun violence. Its just going to be that way. Do you not think so?
Your argument falls flat on it's face in light of the gun violence suffered by those areas in this country with the tightest gun control measures. But you know that. You don't want gun control. You and your ilk want control.
Doing some math here, a person working full time at a $9 per hour minimum wage paying job would earn $20,100 per year. Two such individuals would naturally make double that. The average median income in the U.S. is in the neighborhood of $50,000 per year. It's not hard to see what the leftists are attempting. And it might work if money operated in a vacuum. Like nearly all of their fiscal policies, it will blow up in theirs and our faces with unintended, and sadly some intended, consequences.

I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
I agree with the President that if you work a full time job, you shouldnt be living in poverty. However that needs to happen, I think it should.
As for the guns, you are all missing the point. All I am saying is that if we are going to have guns, control or not, legal or not, things like sandy hook will continue to happen. All the background checks, psycho evals or anything else they can dream up will not stop it. Nothing. So, just accept it. Thats all I am saying. You dont want gun control, fine, no gun control. Get all the guns and ammo your storage capacity can hold. Just accept the fact that things like columbine and sandy hook will continue to happen as long as we have guns.
What Obama also doesn't factor in is that when raise the minimum wage, then employers raise prices to keep up, lay-off employees, or cut back hours. Everything Obama does is to kill profit, he literally hates success and holds a contempt for people that are really good at it.
No one grows up hoping that minimum wage is their apex salary, people enter the workforce to gain experience and look to acquire skills that will make them more desirable. He's the classic divisionist, as he wants to put everyone into the middle class except for his select few.
Then maybe you should be trying to acquire skills to improve your marketability and not acquiring babies, cell phones, and Spreewell dubs.
Not too mention that the price of living will increase as these wages increase, such that the person now getting $9 an hour sees his effective purchasing power lowered.
