One last thought on this topic. I'm really bothered by this administrations disdain for the constitution. I'm afraid that we could see a major constitutional crisis before his term is done. Not predicting it will happen; but I'm definitely worried. The Imperial Presidency has been growing for a couple of decades; but Obama has it on steroids.
President Obama's second term could really be something. In the latest disdain for the Constitution's checks and balances, the National Labor Relations Board has declared that it doesn't like the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Friday ruling that three board members were illegally appointed so it plans to ignore it.
"The Board respectfully disagrees with today's decision and believes that the President's position in the matter will ultimately be upheld," Chairman Mark Pearce said in a statement. "It should be noted that this order applies to only one specific case, Noel Canning, and that similar questions have been raised in more than a dozen cases pending in other courts of appeals.
"In the meantime, the Board has important work to do. The parties who come to us seek and expect careful consideration and resolution of their cases, and for that reason, we will continue to perform our statutory duties and issue decisions."
So, let's see. First, President Obama bypasses the Senate's advice and consent power by making "recess" appointments while the Senate was in pro-forma session specifically to prevent recess appointments. Then when a federal court rules the recess appointments illegal, the NLRB declares that it will keep doing business as if nothing happened.
Without Mr. Obama's illegal appointments, the board would have been without a quorum and unable to decide a single case. That lawless behavior means more than 200 of the NLRB's rulings in the past year are in limbo. It's bad enough to force those 200 litigants to appeal rulings that are sure to be overturned. But the board wants to keep issuing new rulings though it now knows that a unanimous appeals court has declared them illegal, pending a Supreme Court review that may never happen.
Mr. Obama can legally reconstitute the NLRB by getting his appointees confirmed by the Senate. Meantime, Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns is right to call on the illegal members to resign. If they won't, Congress should stop funding the NLRB as soon as the continuing spending resolution expires in March.
Brick by brick ...
Hook 'Em! ...'til early in the morn.
Andrew Jackson was called "King Andrew the First" for less.
Best Barbossa voice: "The Constitution isn't actually rules. It is more like what you might call guidelines."
Obama picks and chooses which portions he intends to follow.
Dangerous precedent to do things this way. At what point are presidential proclamations off limits? If you allow some parts of the Constitution to be abused, why not all? What about separation of powers and checks-and-balances? If you are a Democratic Congressional leader, you should be intelligent enough to know this is a Pandora's Box. Duhhhhhh, the stuff you permit Obama to do because you like it or dont care could always backfire if a Republican president assumes the same powers.
And it would be just as wrong, whether it be a Republican or Democrat.
Fortunately for Obama, too many of the American people are so polarized, ignorant and/or disengaged that they don't see it or realize the potential consequences. And Congress has too many members that are too polarized, ignorant, lazy, corrupt, etc. to effectively deal with it. And I say this realizing this is probably, more or less, the same on either side of the aisle.
Related news note : I saw D.C. Schools are talking about removing the high school government requirement as a class needed for graduation. I guess they figure that if 90 percent of our political leaders are clueless about the Constitution or believe it is irrelevant, why should the kids study it?
And, to those worried about the disrespect toward Obama, I can somewhat agree with you, but.......
1) is Obama respectful of those that disagree with him? I would argue "no." He and his cronies constantly demonize or belittle his opponents and dispose of their ideas without addressing them. And how often does a person risk disagreeing with him without a supporter of Obama - often even people in an official capacity - saying or insinuating that any opposition to his ideas must be racism?
2) Is Obama respectful of the Constitution? I would argue no. He interprets the Constitution selectively and treats it like a buffet line. He picks and chooses what parts he will choose to use to his advantage, support or disregard. Others have done similarly - Jackson most notably, as well as both Roosevelts and LBJ - but (my opinion) it seems to me that Obama is worse about it on the most basic of Constitutional issues. Some of his actions seem focused on directly impacting individual rights. And they seem to circumvent Congress (checks-and-balances/separation of powers) more than the others.
He is the president. He was elected. I get it. I can respect the office.
I don't believe he is evil or has evil intentions. I might like the guy just fine if he came to a backyard barbecue at my house.
But I honestly and fully believe he is wrong and the arrogance of many of his actions are dangerous to the short and long term success of the country.
His actions are, in my opinion, remarkable short-sighted for someone of his intelligence.

As a Clinton democrat, which might surprise some in here, I try to be objective about Obama. I find that much of my dislike for him and his administration centers on the way that the media (Chris Matthews et al) treats him as untochably great. Never has the mainstream media really questioned why his college transcripts are off limits. Did he receive financial aid because he claimed to be foreign born like the new Senator from Mass claimed to be Native American. I have made it clear that I believe because his mother was an American citizen- he is. If the law does not say that change the law. It is why are they sealed that bothers me. It is the soft ball questions he receives that get to me.
thorns hit a lot of my points. Obama and crew trash those who disagree. He is like Nixon in that reguard. He is hidden behind the race card. His view of the Constitution is far different than mine. His view of wellfare is far different than mine. Clinton had workfair. His Obamacare is a sale out to the worse part of the Medical industry- insuring profit for big insurance companies and having the IRS enforce payments to the same. He opporates in a world of secrecy as opposed to free and open compromise with the rest of us who disagree with his policies.
Tax is the T word. He has increased it dramatically and for what? Not to defend our country for the enemies within and without. Humanitarian you say? Ok, but are we giving fish and games to entertain to the masses rather than asking them to contribute to society as a whole by learning a trade and actually working?
Enough of the rant. My country would have been far better has H.Clinton been elected to two terms.

H. Clinton is just as much of a socialist as Obama.
I want the GOP to fight back! They really are pussy's
The GOP is a victim of their own social conservatism. This country is rapidly changing to being socially liberal and a lot more emphasis is put on tolerance and the such. Meanwhile the GOP is comes off as a bunch of Jesus/Religion crazy hicks who want to control your social and personal life.
Since the majority of people aren't clued in to economic policies (and most politicians aren't either) the voters tend to vote more on social issues than economic. Joe and Jane Doe have no freaking idea if GOP or Dem economic principles will work or not, but they understand damn well that GOP talks about restricting their choices in things like abortion, and that they're heavily religious which turns a lot of people off these days. So that's what they vote based on
This is still a middle to right country even with all the half truths and lying by omission coming from the left and their affilliates. The only way the left can win is to portray the GOP as the hicks you call them. Can the left ever win an election if the media ever told the truth? The zero tolerance portion comes from the left. These half truths and portrayals of the GOP by the media stick precisly because the majority of voters are emotional and can be played. Hence my comment the GOP needs to fight back.
As we continue to travel down this path the freedoms and liberty bestowed upon us are being decimated. In the first 60 days after the election this administration implemented 2,200 new regulations. For what? More intolerent PC agenda? I think not.
We come off that way because that's the way the media constantly portrays us and your average low information voter (read: Obama voter) is not intelligent enough to discern the truth and buys it hook, line and sinker.
Predictable and incorrect.
Our Leftist troll speaks !!!
