  • rockon i love the kinsler news. i love the fact this organization is keeping a lot of the big pieces together. i really hope Moreland can keep hitting so he stays too. the great thing about the Rangers is not only their talent, but the likeability and great chemistry of the team. i don't want that to change.

I still think Feliz is our best closer. I just don't see him as a starter.

How about Feliz tonight? This rotation could be incredible!

  • Mike Adams is throwing great. With Ofando and Nathan the games get really short.

  • His off speed stuff was really good tonight. If he can continue to throw those pitches for strikes. He's gonna be a b+tch to deal with. It's a big "if" but was very impressed with them tonight. FB was 94, Change was 84 and I think I saw a slider at 81. Good luck with
    that .

Per Buster Olneys twitter: First time through the rotation and the Rangers pitchers have a 2.20era .

And that's with the early freak out from Darvish last night...They will have their off nights but both Ogando and Feldman can spot start out of the bullpen...

What a fun year is in front of us...

Actually missed the game last night. Tuesdays are NCIS night in my house.

Apparently he did pretty well based on what I've read this morning. Hope he can keep it up all year. That's always the worry taking a reliever to the starting rotation.

  • I'm taking everything with a grain of salt for now. Seattle and Chicago are two terrible teams.

  • How do you guys think the Rangers will fit Profar in to the roster if he's ready next season?

Agreed. Lots of season left and too many things could happen. Will be interesting to see if Josh and Nellie can stay healthy all year and how the starters hold up. I'm not worried about the bullpen nearly as much as I am the starting rotation.

  • I really believe Profar is going to force their hand next year. The most discussed theory I've seen is that you move Kins to LF and stick Profar at 2nd. In all honesty, I'd be fine with that. I know that he wouldn't be as valuable in LF as he is at second but I don't know enough about that sort of stuff to form much of an opinion on it.

I know I want no part of trading Elvis. Ever. Although I do believe you would get an unbelievable haul in return for a GG caliber SS who hasn't even entered his prime yet. Remember that if Profar breaks through next year he'll be the same age Elvis was when he did.

To me this dynamic is going to be the most interesting thing to watch off the field over the next 12 months.

Also it will be interesting to see how the Olt/Beltre/Moreland plays out as well. AJM over at LSB speculated yesterday that you could trade Beltre to make room for Olt in 2014. Or of course play Olt at 1B. Good problems to have.

    Couple notes:
Grienke broke off extension talks with Milwaukee last night. JD had been trying to acquire him for the last 3 years. Something to file away.

Leonys Martin and Engel Beltre are off to outstanding starts. I expect we see Leonys at some point over the summer in Arlington. Beltre is the more interesting story imo. Great tools. High ceiling and extremely low floor. Has dealt with maturity issues as well as other things that seem to get in his way and affected his development. Has 3hrs this year with only 1 all of last year. Excellent defensively. Keep your fingers crossed that hes finally put it together because if he has he's a tremendous talent and could possibly help next year. he's the most toolsy outfielder on the system not named Jordan Akins (also a guy to keep an eye on if you like Matt Kemp comps)

    COACH CUTLIP

  • Whether or not it's next year, I think eventually you could see Kinsler playing some LF and Profar at 2nd. Also Andrus is only locked up through 2014 IIRC so the problem could work itself out.

i agree 100% with all of this. Young might be the leader of the team, but Andrus is the source of the infectious energy in that locker room. I'd hate....HATE to see him elsewhere. but tough decisions are going to have to be made the next few years with some of these contracts expiring and young players ready to replace them in the minors.

  • Go Cards!

Which makes me ask, why do the defending champions have to play their first seven games on the road? The goods news is they are 5-1 on this road trip.

  • Absolutely. And needed it too. Had to rest the BP a little and he did. 8k 0BB. Wash is going to have to figure out how to use Scooter more in the pen to save Ogando, Adams, and Nathan a bit. 2.5 up on the angels. Could be 3.5.

  • Adams or Ogando should be our closer if Nathan can't get his shit together in the next few weeks.
