some info

  • talked to someone close to the UT football camp tonight and was told "Mike Davis will play as much as any receiver in the first game if he continues to play like he's playing".

    Folks, get ready.

  • Turns out if you click on the picture it gets larger. I know you said on OB that you were moving to Hawaii a while back.

  • I hope they don't overdo it, his body looks far from being able to take a 12 game beating.

    Quarterback

  • Man, I am really looking forward to watching Mr. Davis play. I'm quite sure I haven't had this much expectation for a true freshman wide receiver since Roy Williams.

if there's anything i trust about this staff, it's that they won't ever give a young player more than he can handle.

  • Guys, there will absolutely be growing pains with the freshman class, but it is a special, special class. Bible may have been disappointing at the outset but that's about the only one, and that is really rare.

  • Still remember Roy Williams' start to his Texas career. Caught six for 105 and had a highlight one hander.

  • Greg Davis on 1300 last night said: WR Mike Davis, WR Darius White and OL Trey Hopkins will play in the Rice game for the O. No word on the D

This sure sounds like its going to be fun!

Thanks for that. Being in North Carolina/South Carolina yesterday, I missed that one for sure.

Mack's PC (Jeff will be at) should be very interesting/informative today.

There is zero doubt Jeffcoat will play a lot and very early on defense. I think there will be 4-6 fish that will play meaningful snaps on D.

  • They interviewed the whole staff....Including Mack Brown and Will Muschamp. Re the D he did not name any specific players, but you could tell he is ready big time! Whenever the energy level from the coaching staff comes across like that you start to wonder if we are drinking the kool-aid!

Also regarding the back up QB, GD said they are very close and they will redshirt one. He said they just had to still sit down with each of them to discuss it. sounds like its going to be sooner then later on that front.

  • Thank goodness we made Davis happen.

I wish the same could be said for Trey M.

Davis blew up his senior year and we wanted him but since he was committed, he had to contact us. Thank goodness LSU sucked last year.

  • The mystery surrounding the team this season is exciting, I'm really hoping it all gets put together and we really put it to some folks this year.

Thank goodness is right about Mike Davis. Hopefully we have a spot or two for the Mike Davis version of 2011. ASJ stung, but that might be the silver lining.

Keep in mind, BJ was the #1 WR that year on the recruiting scene though Roy wasn't far behind.

Think the staff almost has to work 6, especially if Kirk and Chiles live up to the off season hype.

(in no order) Williams, chiles, Kirk, Davis, Goodwin, Hales Davis plus you have White who may not shirt Timmons, and Fitz .

I know it won't happen but I wish they could shirt White.

echeese, looks like we might have two freshmen WRs they won't be able to shirt based on talent. I wonder where these snaps and balls are going to come from. We've got Chiles, Kirk, Williams, White, Davis, Hales and Goodwin.

You touched on my concern (and figured out who was who).

Someone is going to get left out unless we have injuries. Not sure it's worth it to White just to nab 10-15 grabs in garbage time.

But, good problem to have, much better than the alternative.

    echeese262

  • You have to think that if White is as good as he potentially could be some day, redshirting him would just mean he had a year of his talent wasted within the program. If he can do it, I'll be happy to see him out there. I just don't think he'll be here for more than 4, if that.

At the same time, they still get to redshirt Harris and Jones and Shipley and the Nigerian dude are following, so the flow continues.

    close to jumping

  • Don't think Ship shirts, think he pushes like Davis has.

Another advantage of playing White is that if he gets hurt down the road, we have a shirt year to burn. WRs tend not to come out too early but who knows. Kid certainly has some sick upside.
