posted this on another board but thought I would share

  • strong, strong indications Davis is stepping down at season's end. Talked to someone tonight that expects Davis to "retire" along with two others.

Apparently Mack had a talk with davis after the Baylor game and again yesterday. The two are great friends, obviously, and it will be handled the right way. It gets a lot more interesting but I'm not going to share just yet.

Thanks for posting it here. And I am excited and relieved that this may be taking that direction. I hope that the the retirings of tolly/macworter also occur (I think they are logincally the two). Aditionally I would expect Bk to be gone on performance as well.

Is there any hope of changing S & C coach? I would be ok with Major getting the OC if it were a co-OC along with a strong OL coach who was the run game coordinater.

You can be sure that one be one of the first changes.

Outstanding news. I think if all this goes down, and the ensueing hires are out of the Muschamp rolodex there will be a new energy/buzz on the team next year. I think we have the makings of a confernce title team with those changes. Without those changes, I think we are 6-6 next year.

    Which one?

  • el mahico, do you think Brewster could be a possibility to bring back to Texas in some capacity?

I took it to mean the S/C coach.

  • el mahico's telling me what I want to believe.

Because I want to believe it so much, it is all the more important than I remain skeptical. *Spock eyebrows*

  • BK is definitely done at Texas. Somewhat surprising he hasn't already been put on leave

Are you referring to the Cleve Bryant situation? There has been a rumor that a coach was also involved.

Signatures are stupid. You should block them.

  • Gus Malzahn come on down! I think he woul dbe a perfect fit at Texas as he knows how to run a spread offense that utlizies a dual threat QB. We have done well through the Auburn pipeline in the past so why stop!

While that rumor may be legitimate, the university is not commenting.

The bottom line, however, is that putting him on leave is a questionable tactic.

What needs to be done is him being relieved of his duties for on-field performance. And then if there is a law suit, then let the law suit play out separately, but don't let Kennedy use accusations or allegations as a springboard for wrongful termination.

  • Just wanted to give some "insider speculation love" to El Mahico for keeping the 24/7 board looped in. Between yourself and Jesus S. at the 'Cosm, hope is springing eternal in the form of a serious colonic for the Texas coaching staff. I'm hoping what we're hearing is true; I think it's the only course of action that can help this sinking ship float again.

Wait, I must have missed something? Help me connect the dots, I think I can, but I don't want to assume something that might be wrong, type it, and start another rumor.

  • I keep seeing Tolleson listed as someone people want gone. Why? All he does is put guys in the NFL. We don't have a 2nd dt this year because of reasons he had absolutely no control over.

This is absolutely true. The guy has put tons of kids in the pros, so why get rid of him? It wouldn't make any sense. The guys he's put in the NFL are also doing a great job, and I have to think he's a part of that reason.

  • Not sure putting kids in the NFL is a comment about his coaching - it may just be the quality of kid he has to coach. Just saying.

I have less of a problem with Greg Davis the Coordinator than I do with Greg Davis the playcaller.

  • Mad Dog is very well respected nationally. Not sure why he is attacked so much here - we are a very, very well conditioned team who has had a ton of 4th quarter comebacks.

Maybe because he is overweight he is an easy target. Because the OL can't block, that isn't the S&C coach's fault.

  • Tolleson's issues revolve around whether he wants to retire and the special teams performance this year,

  • Will it really matter that much if Davis is gone? Maybe. You guys that are plugged in would know better than me but I'm convinced that Mack is the one steering the ship on offense. Everything from scheme, player evaluation and selection to game plan is ultimately controlled by Mack in my opinion. Hopefully he's able to give full control to whoever is brought in.

people always say that and I don't know why. Maybe he won some awards at some point but that isn't relevant now. Additionally who is going to say negative things about him? He clearly is a hypocrite with respect to his own self discipline.
