  • And he busted his ass for four years to be the best Horn he could be. I for one will be glad to remember the plays he did make -- and over four years as a starter, he made a buttload of them -- than the ones he didn't.

    Hook 'em, Blake.

Now can we PLEASE move on from this, PLEASE???????

LOL, starting a thread, what a novel way to move on.

Absolutely this. Kid kept his nose clean and gave everything he had for the team.

no actually he did not make a buttload of plays over a four year career. in fact he probably made fewer good plays than any four year starter in history...

Hayden Christensen - to merely call him wooden is an affront to puppets everywhere...

Every post like yours represents the antithesis of "moving on".

  • Never understood the despise and hate some have for overachievers . . . . .

and most often they do so making excuses for some more talented player who doesn't want to put in the work and effort to unseat said overachiever.

OTOH, it really pisses me off the way guys like Muschamp and Diaz intentionally tried to throw games playing guys who "spilt blood" for the team.

It is a valid point there is little point in a new thread.

Sorry if my starting this thread came across as me hating on Blake. In fact, my intention was the complete opposite. It just seemed like this pops up every damn thread, albeit only by a few people, and I was trying to shut it down by voicing my frustration over this blind negativity.

I agree with you. He's done more for the football team and the school then most of the jags ripping on him.

While I agree that he was a kid who played hard. Probably a good teammate and student athlete. But that doesn't change the fact that he was an average at best safety. Nobody is doubting that he didn't max out his ability in the classroom or on the field. They're just saying, and I agree, that he wasn't a very good player whose deficiencies are pretty obvious to most.

Cant dispute that and wouldn't. its the constant bashing of the kid that did all those other things you mentioned that has grown old for some. He came to play every saturday for 4 years and gave everything he had. He should be applauded

Do us all a huge favor and never post about Gideon again. He wasn't the best, but he did make his share of plays, whether you like it or not. Hating a player over something he can't control like natural athleticism is just wrong. Gideon always played to the best of his ability.

Wasn't talking about you, I understood where you were coming from.

My comments were directed at the "internet couch coaches" who were rightfully offended by having it pointed out their hate is more than a bit misplaced.

But then it's the net, critical thinking is often the exception not the rule.

You're right. Nobody should ever hate on Gideon. They should hate on Mack for f'n up recruiting so bad at the position that They didn't bring in one safety who was better in those 4 years.

Six interceptions in a single season is pretty good from what I hear
