Why Mack retires

  • In 1976, DKR decided to "put his bucket down" because he felt relieved when he won and the losses ate at him more.

Flash forward to 2012, I'm seeing the same thing with Mack. The fire isn't there. When interviewed going into halftime, he looked subdued. Even his clapping has become non existent.

Also, when ESPN showed the team coming out of the locker room they looked lethargic while TCU looked ready to go. Team takes on personality of the coach.

Might be wishful thinking, but considering how Mack looked up to DKR, he should do as he did in 1976 and move to the studio.

  • Only if Mack thinks like Royal did. He doesn't. Going to have to be forced out. Too much classless ego.

  • If he does not watch it, he may not have that option.

    No fans = no money.

I felt the same way and I hope Mack doesn't overstay his welcome. He tried in his own way to bring us back from 2010. I hope he realizes that what he thinks as his best is no longer good enough and steps down. I think he will, he looks done.

Maybe it is my age, but at this time I have little passion for this program. I came to school at the end of DKR's time and have endured some sorry football since, but I can't remember when the passion has just been drained from the fan base.

More similarities to DKR.In 1977 Akers' took his players, made some adjustments and made a serious run at the championship. with the right coach, I think we could do the same thing next year. That coach just can't be mack brown.
