Those are are the highest impact people and I agree with the order you listed them, too. Too short a list for a very good conversation, IMO. A more interesting list would be the top ten Horns of all time. Top twenty would be even more interesting.

DKR, Mack, Nobis, and Earl

Surprised to see people leaving Vince out. He's in the discussion as one of the greatest college football players of all time and put UT back on the map after years of mediocrity. I'm not knocking any of the other guys but Vince (and Earl and Ricky) are no brainers.

I'll say it again, you have to consider James Street. He was undefeated as a starting qb and won at least one NC. If DKR put Texas on the map, James Street was the driver. Plus, he fathered Huston!

Here's my bigger and better longhorn Mt Rushmore. DKR, Street, Nobis, Earl, Ricky, Vince, Colt, Mack.

Just as interesting is the Mt. Rushmore for DB's.

Johnny Johnson, Raymond Clayborn, Jerry Gray, & Mossy Cade

RBs: Earl, Ricky, Priest and leave a spot for JG.

This is probably what he is thinking. Unfortunate for those of us who believe the time is right for a change.

Hard to put Mack on the list. DKR had 3 NC and 11 conference championships.. Mack has 1 NC and 2 conference titles. The difference is huge. It would be like comparing Earl to Tre Newton. Mack is a good coach, but he will not go down as one of the greats in the coaching profession. Given the history and tradition of Texas, I think anyone on the list should be considered one of the greatest at their job.
