I believe that Vince had the single greatest 12 month stretch in college football history. 3000/1000, 13-0, defeating Michigan in the Rose Bowl, Ohio State in the Shoe at night, trouncing OU, putting a historic beat down on CU in the Big 12 CG, and then orchestrating the greatest single championship game performance in history en route to defeating what many had dubbed the greatest college football team in history in what appears to be the greatest BCS championship game in history in the Rose Bowl of all places. No one will ever top that over a span of 12 months.

Frazier was amazing and won so much, Tebow won so much, but those guys flat out didn't have the all around physical package and all around stats to be considered as good as Vince. If you put Frazier or Tebow on the Horns, do they still win? Maybe but could he throw the ball? Tebow is half the all around athlete Vince is. If you put VY on Neb or Fla, does he do as well? How could you argue otherwise.

Red Grange. What he did against the greatest defense in Michigan history will never be repeated. He was also single-handedly responsible for the early success of the NFL.

underrated post ^. This was talked about on the SVP show yesterday! although they never mentioned VY as one of the greatest players of all time! As long as great is an opinionated word, there can never be a true #1. Efficiency, however is different. 3000/1000 in a 12-month span. I never knew those where his stats for that year. Hate to agree with this, but if we're set on having Vince on top of the list, Cam Newton at least deserves a look.

It is a pretty stupid "rule" if that is actually encoded anywhere. So, if you are recruited with other great players, you might have your induction into the Hall of Fame delayed by a ton of years at first because of the vote splitting involved and then because only one of you can get in every other year? Totally inane.

I guess that would also apply to teams that have multiple Heisman winners playing for them like USC (although there is probably another reason to keep one of those players out).
