we need a BA recruiter over everthing else. my vote would be for mathis as some out of state guys seem to take a while before making inroads in Texas.

He wants to try his hand at the collegiate level. Very few would have an opportunity to start their's at a place like Texas. Plus, there's a great deal of mutual respect between he and Mack.

Well, first there's money. He'd at least double his current salary.
Second, he can always go back to being a head HS coach if it doesn't work out at Texas.

Agree with your thoughts... don't see Mathis coming here since he had a very quick cup of coffee at UH this year... could be wrong, but I don't see him entertaining a thought of coming here for a year!

Bobby - what about someone off the radar such as Eric Bienemy (former OC at CU and running back coach at UCLA and Minnesota Vikings)? Wasn't he under consideration several years ago when Ken Rucker was hired as RB coach? There's probably some baggage there but he did coach some good ones in Maurice Jones Drew at UCLA and Adrian Peterson at the Vikings. He is available now that the CU staff was fired ...

You know, with Mack Brown as our HC, all the other clip board/whistle boys don't mean squat.
I couldn't care less who is going to fill the positions we have opening up.

There was a time when Mack came very close to hiring him years ago. I don't think he'll go that route this year.

I wonder who would come calling if Mack were to retire and put out a standing 8 -10 mil a yr deal. Of course it's not realistic, but the names popping up would big.

Whether he likes Major or not, why would the RB coach at Alabama come here? The way our team is performing, that isn't even a lateral move.

They need to pick a guy that can recruit and develop players. That's how they will save this program. I'd say go with the 'bama RB coach. That be my favorite choice but whoever it is I hope they get the job done.

Or maybe hs sees we have a chance to be good and he can help them improve and have his stamp on the improvement which would look good on his resume. The same is true for any of them, because we should have a very good running game next year.

Burton Burns is making $290k this year, and is probably in line for a pay increase if they win the title this year. He's also 60, so he's probably plenty comfortable with the fact that he's a career RB coach and not really looking to bolster his resume.
Unless Texas gives him a ridiculous number that he's forced to consider, like $500k, then I doubt he's moving.
Harsin made $625
Major - 500
Wyatt - 315
Searels - 425
Chambers - 200
I'm assuming Major gets a raise to what Harsin made, Wyatt gets a raise as well, and Burns would command a higher salary than Searels and surely more than 90k more than Chambers.

Burns is my #1 with Wisky's RB coach coming in at #2. Bamas running backs always have great pad level. Their balance is superb as well. I like how tough they are too.
