So by asking if I watched the Texas defense AT ALL last year, you weren't being a condescending prick? If you're gonna act like an an asshole, sack up when someone calls on it.

Got it. Maybe you shouldn't such a raging shit bag, and learn what Texas does on defense before asking stupid questions.

You guys. And I know, from reading your posts, that your both knowledgable football guys. I wish you would take the time to go back and read (or re-read) "To Kill a Mockingbird". It is a precise and engaging handbook on how a man should use his intelligence. That is, as a means for making the world a better place in which to live for those around him who, for whatever reason, are less capable of doing so than he is. Not as a tool for clever sarcasm.

It is ironic (to me at least) that in connection with an article about a young man who was extended the first scholarship offer of the year, based as much on his leadership and "team building" skills as his ahtletic ability (which appears to be at the extreme high end of the scale), that two fellow Longhorns use it as an opportunity to sling slurs at each other over whose paying attention to the nature of our base defense.

Atticus Finch was a brilliant lawyer. He was also a gentleman. There's lots of brilliance out there. Not so much gentlemanliness. We need more. You can do it. Hook 'Em Horns!!!

  • I see Raulerson more as a future DT than DE,. At a lean 250 lbs., he's got 5.0 speed, which is fine for a growing DT, but somewhat slow for a DE. He's not likely to get a whole lot quicker while putting on D-1 bulk, but that's no problemo because athletic, mobile DTs are probably the rarest of all football commodities. Doug English was also a lean 6-5 DT, and he became an All-American and 7-time All-Pro.

OTOH, having an athletic guy who's always looking to kick someone's ass would be great to have on the OL too.

I just want him used where it has the absolute greatest impact. Much will depend on how he grows, and our needs on the OL and DL.

  • Jeff best position on offense is center and defense is a 5 technique, You would thing that if he had the quickness to play DE at Texas that he would probably be quick to play LT in college?

40 time is overrated for linemen. The DE is usually not going to be more than 10 yards away from his target when pass rushing.

  • i think he would be wasted at guard. DE or center would be awesome however...

Hayden Christensen - to merely call him wooden is an affront to puppets everywhere...

  • I think he'll have great success on either side of the ball but I think he's got NFL potential as an OLineman. My prescription would be to redshirt him and allow him and the coaches to see where his body goes after a year with Bennie and then decide based on working him on both sides of the line and his growth.

Having an All-American Center would be awesome but he has the feet and the drive to be a first round OT if he can gain weight. Anyone can see the disparity in pay between OC and OT in the NFL. Let Bennie and Stacy work their magic and turn him into a monster.

While I agree with you about the value of OT's, the problem is that he may not have the body type to carry the weight necessary to be an OT. I could see him being either a strong side DE or he may be able to play DT. For all we know, he might have incredible hands and make a great TE. The mods described him as a jumbo athlete that can play different positions along the line. It will be interesting to see where he ends up before he leaves the 40 acres.

Possibly which is why I say redshirt him and see where his body goes after a year with Bennie and a big boy DI training table.

Remember he hasn't even started his senior season yet. Take a look at D'brickashaw Ferguson coming out of high school.

  • Football Player: I dont give a crap where they line him up on the DL, he will make plays. Who gives a shit what is 40 time is? Thats why NFL scouts suck bc they make draft decisions based on Indy Combine rather than 3-5 years of football tape. You line him up on the football field and he will win, period. Bennie will trim him, bulk him up and train him. We got a bad ass football player. I am glad they will start him out at DE and have him play Offense also. He will make plays!! The player on the other side will be going backwards when they play Maulerson!
