Which conference 4 UT?

  • BIG, Pac XII, SEC....where could we go, which is the best fit?

The Pac XII for me offers the best deal idialisticly. Great weather, west coast, nice places to visit and I'd love to beat the crap out of SC...regularly. The BIG is north, cold and not hospitable at all. The people at places like osu are more than bat shit crazy and they're assholes. The BIG would be horrid travel. The SEC, well it seem that the SEC is sort of old south, fat and stupid people everywhere and now they have added the dumbest people of all, the ags. We can not follow those guys into the SEC. We would never hear the end of it.

Recruiting would due well if Texas joined the SEC or PAC XII, but I don't think it would have much effect if we joined the BIG. I'll go with: 1)Pac XII, 2)SEC, 3) BIG

Is going independant, still a viable option? Could Texas start a new super conference? What are we going to do? May I suggest a new AD first.

  • Stay in the Big 12 and add FSU, CU, GT and VT/NCState. That is the simplest solution for long term conference viability.

How does the Big XII compete? Who can add something of relevance to the conference? This whole this is nuts.

  • Big 12

We own our tier 3 rights. The league offices are in Texas. If we expand a championship game would be in Texas. We have all the pull in this league, and we have no reason to leave.

  • Bevostevo, please don't take this personally, but I really don't think the weather, places to visit, or average person on the street should be part of the "for me offers the best deal idialisticly" whatever that last word is supposed to mean.

That loss torqued you off, didn't it? Good, I like to see the passion. Carry on.

FSU/Clemson/GT/Louisville/UNC/NCSt....there are teams out there. Hell, ND may suddenly be having second thoughts about their ACC association. The idea Tx needs to move to another conference is silly unless of course they plan on staying status quo. I think long term that would be a mistake. Then yeah, move but otherwise add on.

  • We have 2 choices...Big12 or Indy. That is my opinion based on our Tier 3 deal (LHN) and the way those other leagues structure their tier 3 deals. I don't see our admin throwing away the LHN and I don't see any other conference (that we'd be interested in) taking us with special privileges that would surely anger our new conference mates.

Indy means no conference tier 1 & 2 money and no automatic BCS bowl connection

Point made. Wouldn't Mack love to be here when FSU, his alma mater, and UNC his last job before Texas join the conference? I'd love ND to join. Having them become our Thanksgiving day game would be lights out. Can you imagine UNC basketball at the drum. I like your ideas. Sounds like you would make a better AD than what we have. At least you might bust a move and do something.

Yeah - but if all there is left is - TCU, TT, Baylor, Kansas and Iowa State. Need I go on ...

Whenever some type of realignment happens discussions always start with hypothetical scenarios that range from plausible to somewhat implausible, that later disintegrates to f*cking abject stupidity.

However now there are internet rumblings (read: rumors) the SEC will change their stance and take FSU/Clemson. If true then yikes....

You're looking to this point in time---------------------------->> 2013

You need to look out to here---------------------------------->> 2017 and beyond.

people bashing the Rutgers move as inconsequential are probably the same ones that were saying adding ND to the B12 does nothing for the conference because they are irrelevant and haven't won anything in 20 plus years. (and no I am not comparing them to each other).
