Thank you for sharing. My cousin played at Midland Lee when all of this was being chronicled for the novel, so this is a story that garners interest.

Had a good friend that played LB at San Angelo Central and played against Boobie. Said he was very hard to tackle and talked sh!t the entire game. My friend played LB in Div.2 ball so he wasn't exactly a scrub.

Friday Night Lights is one of a handful of books that I've read more than once. I still love it. The story of Boobie is probably one that crosses my mind every month or so in one situation or another. Tough stuff.

The movie didn't have 1/2 the punch the book did. It really went into the (at times f-ed up) football crazy culture of West Texas and its short term and long term social impact. I HIGHLY recommend it.

A bigger, faster, stronger, more elusive and athletic version of Cedric Benson at Midland Lee. Boobie Miles was the most talented player in Permian history it's not close. It's a shame what that injury did to him because it would have been a pleasure to watch him do his thing leading Permian to the 1988 state title.

I love the book and even though it painted Odessa in a tough light it was a fair and accurate portrayal of the town, people, school, and team at the time.

sorry, don't think Benson ever ran as high as Miles did. He looked more like a Chris Brown (of 2001 Colorado) to me.
