I like that they are probably going to have spots available to continue evaluating through the 2011 high school season to see who stands out and makes strides. The work with the OOS guys is also encouraging. Perhaps by not snatching so much low hanging fruit just because they'll commit we can bring in a bit better quality at positions. I don't want to see such a lack of ability/playmaking as we saw this year at WR, RB, and TE. Also safety and DT as well.

Wrong site... try Recruitocosm. Just realize that you can probably ask random strangers and get as much inside info these days.

Just curious, could one reason we are going more out of state, might be the ESPN deal? As well as the staff wanting to look more out of state?

An interesting thought, but I doubt Powers or Dodds told Mack to recruit more OOS players to appease ESPN. More than likely, it has to do with the new coaching staff being mostly OOS guys mainly from the SEC.

I didn't mean it as it would be appeasing ESPN, maybe it helps with us getting our foot in the door of recruits who might not normally think of Texas as a possible destination. The perception is that Texas doesn't need to recruit out of state. Just a thought that popped into my head

Being an avid horn fan for over 50 years I was wondering why we would take back Akina, and not get fresh blood like Mack garza or Malone.???

Hearing Orlando Thomas verbal isn't confirmed...or is it. Local paper states HC at Cove has heard nothing of the sort.

AllenHorn, I always enjoy your insight. My take on recruitocosm is that it is what is advertised: a fan site for rumors and chat in addition to some inside info from a few others. They don't claim to be anything else, so for me that is just fine. The guys that started it are Longhorn fans like the rest of us. Being that they don't put themselves out there to be anything but what they are I don't have issue with it. I go there to read. That said, I love this site and am glad I joined.
Just my 2 cents.
