It's a very un-Texan thing to do if you don't buy DCTF.

I agree with Jeff the Steele magazine is worth the investment.

Texas Football for me is not as good as it used to be but I've bought it for 25 years. (still have all of the copies)

The small type is tough in PS, but the info really gets into the nitty gritty that other mags don't.

The statistical info and the ability to really look at Texas' (or whoever your team might be) schedule and break down everything possible about an opponent makes it well worth it.

I used to buy InsideTexas until...well, you know. Now I just read hookem.com.

Agreed. I have a system with DCTF that I follow every year.

1. Texas articles/analysis/depth chart etc.
2. Longview Lobos
3. Big 12 section
4. Which ever district/classification Longview is in and who is picked in what region etc etc.

I like to read the articles about college football in Playboy, though they usually try to "soft focus" everything.

Dumped the others for Phil years ago. Not a fan of Phil's writing (who cares who the QB was in 2006), but I am fan of his stats.

You have depth charts with stats, past schedules with sites, scores and rankings, the last season's stats for all games, team stats from last year with returning players, past bowls, a big chart of the schedule...

And there's a ton of analysis of players, recruiting, past recruiting rankings.

I don't really care about his predictions, but I think they're usually well thought out even if I disagree. The guy loves football and it shows.

I buy several basketball magazines but only one football magazine.

With the invention of the Internet, I think preseason mags are all fairly useless
