I do. I think Harsin would have been all over Luck instead of Griffin. As for Wright, I can imagine Wyatt going after Fuller, Buckner, Stonum, Omarius Hines, Antoine Hicks, or a number of other WR prospects in the state or outside the state that year. Let's not act like Wright was a recognized world beater coming out of high school. Aside from OU, the remainder of his offer list wasn't really a who's who of college football at the time.

That's just it. You don't always need a person the "who is who" are chasing. We have had a few of those. We do need coaches who NOT ONLY can pick 'em but can also grow 'em. It was said of Bear Bryant that he can use your own to beat his own. Coaching is about growing them to be better than you found them. Wright turned into a heck of a player; So did the young man at Tech that cost us a chace for a NC--Crabtree. He was not one the "who is who" thought that highly off otherwise he would not have wound up in West Texas.

  • Anyone that thinks that Baylor basketball is clean is extremely ignorant and naive. Their staff works their ass off on the recruiting trail, but that isn't what is sealing the deal.

As for football and women's basketball I agree that they hired the right people and those coaches are doing a great job.

The idea that parents all the sudden realize their kids could go to Baylor and be safe and be at a faith based school is comical on so many levels.

Really! And other than a verbal claim, upon what else can we base the pronouncement that it is not the work they are doing that is enabling their success? Just your "factual" word?

  • Wow I state the most probable reason as Pony Excess and I get down voted ? If you think that's not happening your head is in the sand. Especially in Men's BBall and Football. Mulkey I give a lot of credit to, I think she built that program.

You have NO idea what you're talking about. Baseless rhetoric.

In response to Old Tascosa, it's not the elephant in the room. It's pretty obvious that A&M made a poor hire in Fran and the wrong hire in Sherman. Sherman lost the team last year, but left the team in a MUCH better place than when Fran left.

Baylor has done well in Football with RGIII and the real test is going to be this year. Their D is atrocious and is something that really has to change if they want the past 2 years to not be an anomaly. Baylor has never been #3 in the state until the past year. Tech has been historically better as has TCU.

Sure it is but your story is cool.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. We screwed the pooch (no pun intended) when we hired Fran. Mack Brown has been fabulous for you and was the right hire after a decade of less than spectacular football.

so then it really isn't rhetoric. Its fact. One bad decision after another including the latest. Inmates running the asylum. Tell the BOR to get the h ll out of the way and let people qualified to make decisions do it. They just need to be the yes men.

  • d11, look at Baylor's football recruiting. It isn't a whos who. Can't say they are cheating in football recruiting man. Not on an SMU level.
