Go get my guy Pat Narduzzi at Michigan State if he wants to shore up the defense. Pay Narduzzi close to 900K and let him run roughshod over the Big 12.
He is a great recruiter and has done a fantastic job as DC, if Michigan State's offense didn't suck so bad he would be up for some head coaching jobs.
He turned down 700K from Sumlin last year.
He is the best DC out there.

The quandary is, there is a great need for a sound fundamental Defensive Coach, someone who is an enforcer, a stern disciplinarian. Lack of tackling is the major reason for the regress of the 2012 team. You must, must have a Championship Defense, to be a Championship team. With the situation in Mack Brown's tenure, the program's slide, a potential Defensive candidate must weigh all possibilities. There is a good likelihood of more changes ahead.

It does not take all that long to install a new defense.
Much more difficult to install a new offense IMO.
We have talented pieces on defense. We need a real coach there.
