"Zimmerman is one of those guys who tackles well and the ball just seems to find him in the secondary (he has 10 career interceptions). I am told that whether he plays or not could be key in how the Horns attack the K-State defense."
You mean we're not planning to run Bergeron up the middle, no matter what?
How much of a coach's willingness to come and fix things on D is a result of the expected significant uptick in salary and prestige in coaching at Texas versus being excited about coaching for Mack Brown?
For the play action and the outside runs to work, you have to show these runs up the middle. Chalk me up in the camp of "a reasonable dose (10x per game) of running Bergeron up the middle of the defense is a good thing".
Disciplina praesidium civitatis
Very glad to hear that Mack being a perceived short-timer shouldn't be a problem for getting a quality DC. You've got to think that it's looked at as a great opportunity for someone, even if it is for 1-2 years. Take a bottom level D at Texas and turn it into average or better? Seems like an easy little resume booster for someone.
