We are ready!

  • FSU alumn here and we are counting the minutes to get the hell out of the ACC and get into a football first conference! Let's hope it makes sense for all parties and then we need to grap GT and VT. The SEC could kiss our a$$ with OK, Texas, Okie St, FSU, VT, and an on the rise TCU and Clemson. Not to mention baseball and basketball! I have heard the sticking points will be T-1 money and rotating B-12 championship sites. Fingers crossed.

  • I'd love to see the Big 12 add FSU and Notre Dame.

    We'll figure it out from there but that would be a great start to an unbelievable amount of television sets.

  • I wouldn't hold my breath on any of this. Moat of this talk is being driven by fans with vivid imaginations. The actual Big 12 member institutions do not show any sign of being in a hurry to add anyone, unless ND asks in.

  • ACC deal = 17 million per team (minus the 1 million to the ACC fee)

    Big 12 = 24 million + 3rd tier rights to sell

    at least 7 million more in Big 12

    at the same time, money isn't everything to some. Who knows

    Yep. 4-16 team super conferences are on the way.

    My guess would be
    Pac-12 adds 4 more teams from the MWC or Big East, i.e. Houston, SMU, or BSU.

    Big 12 adds 6 more teams to get to 16 those 6 are likely coming from the East coast, but maybe ND is one of the 6.

    BIG adds 4 more teams likely from the Northeast taking from the the ACC and Big East. Maybe Pittsburgh, Boston College, etc.

    SEC adds 2 more teams from the ACC.

  • Invading the SEC's back yard by adding the Florida, Georgia and SC markets to the Big 12 would have to have a material effect on the Big 12 TV deal. Plus it would put the Big 12 in a position to invade southeast recruiting and compete with the SEC on every level and this may be the last moment to score a huge deal like this and secure the future of the Big 12. Enter Bowlsby to make a big splash? It all makes too much sense but there has been complete deafening silence out of UT, FSU and Clemson on all of this. Does that mean there is nothing to it or that it is in the works? It seems simple denials would put all this to rest if there is nothing going on.

    They also did not want OU/OSU for TV market reasons.

    FSU is far from broke. Our athletic budget took a hit this year when WVU pulled out (costed us roughly 1.5 million). It left us in a deficit for the "year" and we had to make some cuts. We just had 5 million dollars donated to our IPF which breaks ground in December. We are fine and I think #2 in the directors cup. However, being in a kickass football first conference with MORE money is a win-win. The ACC is a joke and schools like FSU and Clemson need to find greener pastures.

    I could see adding FSU, but for the life of me I do not get the Clemson attraction. So what would be the attraction for the Big 12 to consider taking them?

    They do average 78,000 in attendance over the last six years, which is more than FSU and more than anyone in the B12 other than Texas and OU. That's all I can come up with.

  • Clemson is one of the most unique college towns in America. One road in and one road out. The city is all about the University and is my favorite road trip every two years. Very good basball, consistant basketball, and a talented but under achieving football team. FSU and Clemson would put B-12 football in the heart of SEC country.

  • It will make for a very competitive football landscape. Not bad for other sports either. And a recruiting bonanza for the teams. Hope something comes through. Tired of SEC sucking all the oxygen from college football.
