I think people feel hallow about it b/c it largely didn't prove anything but Mack will use this game to say, "see I told you so".
This is the same team that got destroyed by OU. The difference is we were playing Baylor who last I checked is now 0-3 in the Big 12.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!

I think the ONLY problem on this team is the play of the defense. Although the Oline has under-performed, the offense because of the play of Ash, the WRs, RBs have produced as anticipated. The defense on the other hand has STUNK UP the place in every game.
I wish we would stop settling for the lowest common "success-denominator." The win is great--as any win is but the coaches ahould be very disappointed in the defense and should say so rather than spewing titillating foolishness. Successful programs have coaches who are not looking for reasons, any reason, no matter how flimsy, to roll out useless platitudes.
News Flash: KSU demolished WVU. Hog tied them apparently. Does KSU have better athletes than Texas?
Lets' quit with the excuse that the problem with the defense are Big 12 offenses. No the problem with the defense is our defense is VERY BAD and is playing (legendarily) poorly. We are giving up nigh 600+ yds to teams. That's crazy and is unsustainable. It is about stats when it comes to points and yards allowed. How else do you win but by limiting those. Ok so Baylor was not able to make us pay for our defensive ineptitude but you can bet your bottom dollar that TT, TCU, ISU, KSU all will. So unless we want to run into those icebergs we better be worried about the D and not celebrating a PYRRHIC victory. Maybe when we accept that truth, we can work on finding a way to play better.

Hollow is the way I would characterize the Baylor win. I'm certainly very happy for the players. They needed this win. But the victory tells me nothing about this team. It's easy to score points on the worst team in all of the FBS. And yes, Baylor has a talented offense but there is very little positive from the defensive effort, which resulted in 50 points. We looked silly on defense. Period.
I guess ones view of the victor is a function of their perspective on the coaching staff. If you've lost confidence in Mack then this victory serves to confirm the problems that were there last week are still very much present and real. If you are still open to a future with Mack then you can find the silver lining in this victory.
I tend to think this program is "on hold" until a true change is made. Before the season I thought that change was happening and that Mack had reinvented himself. After 7 games I have my answer and Mack needs to go. Shootout victories over a below average Baylor team are not the standard I judge Texas. Early October match ups at Fair Park in the Cotton Bowl should be our standard of measurement.
