  • A disappointing loss, but I don't think we really had much of a shot against Appel. We're just not a team that's going to throw up 8 runs per game. French performed admirably. Hopefully we hit the lefty tomorrow better.

Signatures are stupid. You should block them.

  • Post Game. Coach Garrido--' Our players played really hard, never gave away our identity. It sounds like an excuse, that's why I'm stammering. The kind of hits are like the last 4 games. Our pitcher pitched like Youngman. Staying within themselves. Battled right up until the end. Don't let anybody take away your identity. To try harder than you can. Look at the plays they made defensively. 15 SOs , could have been 20. Parker pitched out of the 3 errors, every time. This is a team of very young players in the batting order. Our goal at the end of the month, is to take a pitcher of this quality, and beat him.'

  • It would be nice if at least one of the Big 3 could compete on a high level.

  • The concern many has with Augie is his offensive philsophy - how in the world can you win ball games without scoring?

Just hope the bats will surprise and come to life tomorrow

If he could return to a few years back, his teams had some pop when needed. It is the $64,000 Question...
Can there be a return? The clock is ticking.

Lets hope not............the good thing is French really competed and the defense played well after the first inning. Stanford's defense was outstanding .................the ball Payton hit in the first inning with Weiss on first had a chance to get out............the centerfielder for Stanford is a second coming of Drew Stubb's defense.

  • Can't remember the last time I watched a UT game where a bunt was not even attempted. That's how bad the hitters were dominated by Appel.

  • good pitching outing...I feel fairly confident our staff is CWS material. The issue is the hitting as everyone knows. My question is not move Ben JOhnson into the lineup in place of the number hole hitter in CF.

About what I figured for last night. Appel has as good of stuff as anybody on the Astros staff. He and Overton from ou are the 2 best we will see on our schedule this year imo. Both are high 1st round picks. The problem when we face ou is that their Saturday guy isn't far behind Overton.

I thought French did a great job after the 1st.

Agree with everything in your post. I think Stell could be Stubbs like in center, and I want to see more of Johnson.

Agreed, Hochstatter(3.18) is 1 of 2 Stanford pitchers with an era over 2. Their team era is a pretty salty 1.80.

JOhnson had a little pop in HS...not that that means much. At this point Walla needs a try. Texas cannot continue to give away outs
