US wins 1st U17 exhibition game--some names of interest playing

  • Beat Latvia 108-72, outrebounded the opponents 66-22 (!). Team USA had 8 more offensive rebounds than Latvia had total rebounds.

    Texas prospects

Johnathan Williams-- 10 pts, 8 rebs, 5/9 fg in 15 minutes
Justise Winslow-- 11 pts, 13 rebs, 4/7 fg in 21 minutes
Beejay Anya-- 7 pts, 5 rebs, 11 minutes (and says Texas is the "coolest" school to talk to)

    Guys KU is after

Conner Frankamp (KU commit who has been moving up the charts and getting good press from camps)-- 6 pts on 2/11 shooting in 22 minutes)
    Jabari Parker--DNP
Jahlil Okafor--26 pts, 15 rebs, 12/16 fg in 20 minutes
Dakari Johnson--17 pts, 7 rebs, 7/8 fg in 17 minutes

Most of these guys are still wide open in this stage in recruiting.

  • Beat Australia 89-64 last night. Winslow (4 steals in 19 minutes) praised for defensive intensity off the bench.

Frankamp finished the two games 4/19 from the field. Ouch.

Well Texas has been showing interest to Johnson as well and visited his school within the year.

Poor of me to not pick up on that.

12/21 for the tournament with 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals in 45 minutes.

Looks good going to the basket, but at 6'5" (generous) he's going to need to be able to hit from outside.
