Missing on William Russ was brutal. I think that Fera would have done a great job had he not arrived with hip flexor\groin issues. Nick Jordan did the best that he could, but the bottom line is that there's no way to truly know how a kid is going to do when making the transition from high school to college. I think the only position that's tougher on a true freshman is quarterback. There's just no way to simulate the pressure of kicking in front of 100k fans with a game on the line. Jordan will get better.
What gets me is the stock that college coaches put in summer camp performances. Both Nick Jordan and Taylor Bertolet from A&M were camp phenoms with high rankings from Kohl's. Jordan had reasonable high school stats, hitting 75% of his field goals, but only 4 of 7 for his senior year. Bertolet only hit 50% of his FGs his senior year, going 4 of 8, yet Sherman thought he was worthy of a full scholarship after he tore up the camp circuit.
