IMO Tiger won't be back until he is consistently competing in and winning majors. He has said many times his own measuring stick is how many majors he wins so why would we accept anything less from him either.

IMO if you've won 5 times in the last year, nobody should be questioning if you're "back". Anybody else done that?

He's winning and some pretty big tournaments too, but he putted out of his mind last week. It's still an iffy proposition for him to hit a fairway with even his stinger shots at time. That's forgivable at Augusta. No so much at the rest of the majors.

I hope he continues this, golf is better with Tiger performing, IMO. But can he continue the putting? He had 100 putts for 72 holes. Pretty amazing. Can he stay in contention when his putter isn't lights out....

My thoughts exactly as long as that wisdom tooth behaves. Especially with a few more weeks to tweak his backswing.

Righties with a natural draw with length (Keegan and Rory) and lefties with length (Phil and Bubba)...
The Masters current course set is perfect for, or gives them the best chance to win.
Tiger not the favorite/pick anymore. Doesn't mean he can't win with a great week, but he has to seriously fight the left miss demons with the current setup (since the last course changes). He's forced to turn the rock from right to left on 4-5 key holes these days, and it has totally changed his chances IMO. He has to be flawless in every other area now a days.
It should be a potentially great Masters though. Tiger, Phil, Keegan, Rory and Bubba all healthy. Rory's Sunday round was huge mentally IMO.

Somewhat agree.
If he wins 5-6 tournaments this year, contends but doesn't win a major, hard to say a guy is not back.
As Tiger has always said it can only be a great year with a major. Without, it can be a very good year.
It's not out the question the dude could win 90+ career tournaments, but not get 16 majors let alone 18/19.

He results seem to be more in the realm of occasional inconsistency with dominance rather than being back or whatever some want to label it. Also I doubt Tiger will ever be back to a 2000-2001 level (not sure any golfer will). Could happen of course.
5 tourneys he has 2 wins on each end sandwiched in with a missed cut, ouster in 1st round of match play, and 37th place finish.
At worst the 2nd best golfer in the world still the last year and can make case for the best.

Rory has such a complex transition with the way he loads his right hip before starting the down swing that he is always going to have slumps. But when his timing is on; he's clearly the best in the game.

No golfer will ever have a 2000-01 run again.
That's not what one should ever judge another golfer, Tiger included, against IMO.
I do think if you look at the dudes career when he's made the changes, it's pretty similar.
I'm not convinced he will win five majors, let a lone two more, but he looks like he will win 5-6 tournaments a year for the next 4-5 if healthy.

Disagree clearly now. Clearly when Tiger was struggling/going through swing changes.
Agree on his load/transition. I bet Rory has back/hip issues that will threaten his longevity. He already had a minor back injury issue at a young age - think 2/3 years ago.

I expect Rory to hire Butch, Haney, or another coach to shorten his swing...too many areas for his swing to go wrong now
As good as Rory can be, he also went so far left that he found houses on Augusta many people didn't existed
