Thunder/ Heat

  • They need to find someone who can recognize two guys sitting in the corner waiting for them to screw up so they can launch a three

  • There is the thought that it's part of learning to win. That may be what they are going through - I don't necessarily think so with one player. At the same time, it's not like the Heat won't be the team OKC has to beat, and that is not a given with current makeup and just being a year older.

Then there is the thought that they have to get better to get to that mountain top, and not just once, but give themselves the best chance for a number of years. How do they maximize their opportunity? It may be change to get a player in that can make everyone better, and not just himself and own game better.

Then there is the real possibility that what people think publicly, is not at all what people think behind the scenes - players and coaches the closest to the locker room/team.

  • I came away with a lot of respect for Scott Brooks and Durant. Give LeBron the same respect as well since he could have showed everyone up, instead he gave encouraging words to the Thunder.

The King broke the heart of the land of Oklahoma, where the men are men and so are the women.

  • I'd much rather see OKC keep Westbrook as a two guard and find a real point guard. I think not having Manor down the stretch this season hurt them a bit. But then what do you do with Harden? Keep him as a sixth-man? Try to make him into a distributing point guard and find another sixth-man? I don't know. All I know is that as talented as Westbrook is, he's still no point guard. He just doesn't do the things consistently that are necessary for that position. One prime example is knowing each and every situation you are in, making sure your team knows it, and not commiting dumb fouls an inopportune times.

To digress a bit, the Thunder just changed during this series. Not the same team that got themselves there. No team huddles in between fouls, etc. Complaing about calls (even if there was reason to complain). No ball movement. Suspect defense. Credit the Heat because they surely influenced these "regressions" so to speak, but the Thunder unfortunately didn't step up when they needed to and yielded to their opponents. Hopefully they'll learn a lesson from this experience.

    Congrats to the Heat.

  • Last night showed what the Thunder is lacking as a team. A point guard who involves the rest of his team. Miami had incredible ball movement the entire game. OKC played four quarters of nothing but one on one ball. They have the defensive pieces, especially on the inside. And Kevin needs to quit dribbling in traffic at half court.

  • Not sure I saw anything from OKC that leads me to believe they would beat Miami in next year's finals, if they keep the same team...pretty clear both teams will be the best team in their conferences, & I would expect the same result next year, unless OKC makes changes

Miami is still very week in the middle, and they had huge games from their role players. All which was needed to win these games, with Battier wasn't on the 1st 2 games, then Miami would have lost game 2. Norris Cole scored 8 points in 7 minutes to help overcome a 17 point deficit in game 4. Chalmers stepped up bigtime in games 3-5, and Mike Miller had a huge game last night to help ice the series.

That was the biggest reason why Miami won the last 4 games. Not sure you Miami can get those type of performances again from those 4 guys.

Miami could also make a minor move or two to get better as well.
