Without calling anyone out... one site lets you ask the question; the other sweeps it under the rug.

It's a known fact. He does it to pass along sensationalized "insider info" to get his readership all fired up.

I joined here because this site's proprietors are trying to build something from scratch, which means the effort to work sources and provide valuable information has to be top notch or it will fall on its face. I'm happy with that decision so far. The other site no longer feels the need to prove itself and has gotten fat and lazy, figuratively speaking. I do think Chip Brown is an exception to that, but almost everything else over there is superficial and the kind of stuff any layman could regurgitate into a badly written article that ultimately provides no insight whatsoever.

To be fair, I would probably do the same thing in his position, but I would drop the pretense that I have any actual sources or insight into the program. Everything I hear or read from him feels like a half-baked opinion based nothing more than watching the games on television and attending the weekly press conference. Not that there's anything wrong with that; hell, that's basically what all of us average Joes do. But don't try to sell me that as some kind of erudite, inside knowledge of the program. Maybe he used to provide that, but it certainly hasn't been the case over the last few years.

Brown is still a reporter, and the difference is obvious. Over here, you can tell that the guys have real sources and/or are out on the recruiting beat doing actual evals and not the bogus type of "Here's what I think based on two minutes of mailed highlights" crap.

I'm done with OB. My sub runs out on April 27th and will not be renewed. Good posts get drowned out over there by the cheer leading squad and it gets old.

I just want to say that I enjoy everything you bring to this site. Your insight and knowledge are so ahead of the rest of the game.

This site easily has the best bang for the buck, and your crew which include Cumro as well, really brings a total coverage of UT sports and Texas recruiting that no site is even close to. I look forward to this site growing, and to hopefully adding a baseball guy to help during the baseball season.

The board here is so much better, but Chip is the man and is the reason I check out OB
