    You're seriously an idiot, you add nothing to this site. FTC/El Gato whatever you wanna call him was on here for a while and while he disagreed with most posters at least he had a point to make more often than not. You're posts just make you out to be an asshole.

    You say that you get the same info on the 5 other sites but the thing is, this site breaks most stories first. The other sites know who to call and what to look for after things get reposted there from posters that have subs over here.

    Not sure about the getting laid part, but if you don't want a site that is exclusive to sports, why the hell are you subscribing?

    You call the drivel on other sites "big boy" conversations? I would claim the opposite - a site that talks about what it's supposed to - Longhorn Sports is a big boy site. Other sites with drooling posters on sig pics is what you call "big boy"? More OT posts that sports related is what you are looking for? That's your definition of "big boy"? Interesting.

    If this is the most entertaining thread you have read, you are completely missing the point of the board. You certainly have the right to criticize the board, but when you criticize given the fact you are clueless to it's objectives, well, you just ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer then.....

  • I actually agree some with the OP. Maybe not how he stated it but there is a point there. Look, no one is knocking the info here. its top notch, but its all this site offers and thats it. I only have to log in here once in awhile..check the info and leave. There is little to no interesting discussion (outside recruiting questions) and no other forums offered to keep people on the site during the downtimes of the offseason or for other UT sports. Bobby obviously thinks the forum is fine the way it is..and thats fine..but hopefully its ok for people to offer some feedback. Two things that have become the most annoying about this place (and feedback I hear from other friends who have tried this site out as well) is

    1)The constant bashing of other message boards like Orangebloods, Shaggy, etc. We get it already. People here hate OB, Ketchum, Rivals, etc. Thats all well and good. I have my issues with them too. You dont need to repeat it every freakin day in various threads or make constant references. Part of the reason some of us checked this place out was a hope it would be free of other sites. Its so tired. This place doesn't need to be the "anti" anything board. It can just be hook'em

    2)Constantly talking about how great this place is and if someone doesn't agree they get bashed and down voted. Some of you people are doing the very thing thats so annoying about orangebloods and the way they pump themselves. If anyone doesn't agree their defenders come out - just like here now. This place has great info. Let its worth speak for itself

    Outside that the only suggestions I would offer is add some other forums. I thought maybe that was coming with forces were joined with the Statesman but nothing so far. How about a general non sports forum for other topics people would want to talk about and it wont clutter the recruiting board? A board for other UT sports like baseball and b-ball?

    Im sure my post will now get down voted tons of times, but im just trying to offer some real feedback from a paying customer. Use it or dont - I just want to see this place get better

    I think I speak for the staff when I say we like where we're at considering we've only been up and running since August. That said, we're excited about the potential we have for growth for this site and the network.

    I think we have the best and most reliable info out there on the Longhorns.

    As it relates to recruiting, I don't just think we have the most knowledgeable and accurate recruiting expert (Gerry) but I think we have the top two (with Jeff). And I don't consider myself a slouch from a long-term knowledge base standpoint.

    Disagree if you want, but if you're looking for the best recruiting info on the Longhorns, there's a long, long way to second place.

    Boring or whatever some may call it, our recruiting info has been and will continue to be golden.

    OT threads is what makes a site worth it in down times of the year. The mods can give you all the info you want but it is still about 10 minutes of reading a day. I like this site more for the fast breaking news but other than that it is meh. It can sometimes seem like a ghost town.

    What makes this site great is that there are not ALL THE OT POSTS! If you want to talk about where to eat or how to break up with your girlfriend . . . go somewhere else to do it! This is exactly why I left the other site and came here!

  • So this turned into a 4 page thread about how one guy thinks its boring here? I think he accomplished his troll mission. And you all took the bait. I come here for Longhorn news plain and simple. If i want OT i go to shaggy. This site has never proclaimed to be anything but breaking Longhorn news, and recruiting updates,No fluff. And the Mods, they don't delete threads they don't agree with, unlike some other sites. So go back to OB and have fun over there. Gerry, Jeff, Bobby, and Alan, are the best at what they do when it comes to recruiting for UT, the BIg 12 and nationally. I'm off the soapbox now, now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

    I think people bash Ketch, because he tries to say he broke news before Hookem has and its been pretty obvious since the coaching saga, that is just not the case. But there are times here where the pack mentality takes over when there are disagreements over a topic. I have never seen anybody bash shaggy, i personally think that site is hilarious, some posters over there are pure comedic gold. Want OT stay at Ob or go to shaggy, want news come here.

  • Yeah, ram, this is a boring site. It's full of people who like the mods and the work they put in, relentlessly, to give us up-to-date stuff. Yeah, that's boring. And when Bobby gives us an update on something that's only three lines long because it's just a nugget, that's pretty boring. And it's boring that, hey, there's a bunch of people here who like what the mods do for us, and when some lowlife worse-than-a-troll comes in and tries to throw kerosene onto a fire, these people stick up for the site because usually, lowlifes don't stay and we like it that way. Pretty boring stuff.

    And it's really boring that when a lowlife worse-than-a-troll comes in with an avatar boasting the face of a guy whose idea of a good time was torturing and mutilating people, while they were still alive, and then having sex with the dead bodies -- with or without the eyes he had already gouged out -- it takes until the fourth page of the thread before any of the boring, oh-too-nice people here (these nob-slobbers that so bore you) actually calls you out on it. (Longhorn in OK and Cypress, that's +1 for you guys. Hook'em.)

    That's maybe the only thing wrong about this place, that we're asked to be civil to each other, and most of us respect that. You, ram, on the other hand, haven't demonstrated a single thing worthy of respect, so I will -- politely, in keeping with this boring site that, frankly, kicks ass every day of the week, which is why all of us boring saps are here -- ask you to take that f**king avatar and go die in a fire somewhere.

    That may be a little Shaggy and maybe I'll get smacked for it by the mods for it -- not being civil, after all -- but if anybody ever earned it, you have.

    Nobody is saying the info here isn't the best. Hell the thread title says the info it good. All he said was that the site moves slow (which it does) and then he got downvoted 20 times. That started another topic about how this site has a pack mentality and the voting is just a ridiculous feature IMO. It serves no purpose as far as I am concerned.

    I second this. I agree with the OP. I love this site's straight forward info but entertainment value is low. The content of 247 website is top notch and superior to others.

    247 is like reading the WSJ while OB is equivalent to Maxim.

    Personally I enjoy being a subscriber to both sites.

  • I'm a member of both sites and love both sites. I think 247 is breaking stuff first more often, but I see both sites breaking things first. Give the edge to 247 now.

    I enjoy the OT posts on OB but there's also a lot of garbage on there. Fewer members here, for now, leads to less OT and less garbage.

    I would say I get more quality info here, but I would also say I spend more time over there than here. But I'll also say I come here first in the morning, post lunch and late afternoon.

    So I like both. I have to say the bashing of OB is old for me. I appreciate the way Bobby promotes his site in a classy way, and doesn't take shots at OB. Say what you will about Ketch, but he fairly often calls Bobby a mentor and compliments him. I don't know how things really are between mods on the two sites, but I see class from Bobby and Ketch.

    I wish people would promote the site they like and not attack the site they don't.

    My worthless two cents. Please pray or hope for some rain for Texas.
