    please dont bring down the site with boring info only your wife or mom should have to sit through.

    "your" and "you" is not intended to be aimed at you specifically but rather is generic nomenclature for scrubs on other unnamed sites that disclose their entire lives to people who dont or shouldnt care.

    I think it's awesome that sometimes the mods here recognize a good OP and have the sense to pin it for discussion. I also like the fact that they don't leave stuff pinned for a week. Of course with the frequency of new LONGHORN topics they generate it would get a little convoluted.

    To me it's a matter of whether you want the Longhorn version of Newsweek, or the Longhorn version of Oprah Winfrey.

  • this site is indeed boring. but i don't come here for excitement, i come here for news from the mods not banter w/ the other posters. if i want to be entertained, i'll go to shaggy. i rarely scroll down past the pinned topics because there's very little user contribution worth reading - although what is there is pretty good.

    i don't go to cnn to be entertained either, and that's how i see this board. how entertaining are a bunch of prude, middle aged, sunshine pumpers going to be anyway?

  • First of all, I hardly consider this board boring.

    Secondly, I love the tone of this board.

    If I want to talk about BBQ, movies or current events I will go to another board. In fact, I would encourage anyone to come join our Longhorn community at http://www.corraliban.com. It's a spin-off of the Longhorn Corral, but there's no big brother or censorship. You can be as not-bored as you want.

    I have one suggestion. The national board (The Blue Board) is good for entertainment. If you bounce back and forth, I have a feeling you will like the combo of info and entertaining threads.

    This is a good suggestion. Whenever I have a little extra time and the news is slow for the day, I go over to the Blue Board and am never let down as far as being entertained. Don't be afraid to participate either - it's a fun crowd that doesn't generally act like assholes. I've linked it for you.

    I like this site for what it is. Go get laid some where else if you are bored, but when you want timely, front line, Longhorn specific info that you dont have to search hard for between all the off topic threads and kiddy pissing match threads then you click on this link. As my friend Kates said what ever else you want is available any number of places on the net.

    Anyway, got the obligatory old guy "go get laid" comment out of the way for you. Now that's entertainment;) rockon

  • I gave the original poster an upvote because the one criticism I've heard from friends about the site is the tendency of the regular posters to constantly talk about how great the staff is, etc, etc. (and I agree with the sentiment, it just doesn't have to be stated ad nauseum). Voting down someone expressing an opinion only adds to that stigma.

    That is better than nothing. I am not taking a shot at the mods they do excellent work and break stories at warp speed. But this board could be so much more entertaining without all the we're to good for OT attitudes that some seem to have. I use this site for longhorn news and entertainment. I do also hope that this site will have more insiders on the board. I know most think that the insiders don't know nothing but it makes for interesting conversation.

    I think you miss the point of this board.

    It's a football site. Not a site to entertain bored HS students. There are others for that purpose.

    I think it's a refreshing site not to have the other stuff on it. This is a sports site, sorry you are bored with sports.......
