The ignore button

  • Man I love this board. The ignore button is so easy to use. When you have a whiner and complainer thread where it just invites the miserable and malcontents all you have to do is zap em.

It is also so funny when I now go onto a thread that attracts those type of posters. All the topic has to do is be about our failure at qb and shazam here they come. Just now I went on a thread about 5 star qbs and there were 20 posts. I could only see one reply. I just love it. Now I can edit who I don't want to hear from.

Just me and I may be one you want to ignore but it would seem you would want to be involved in this community for several months before ignoring someone...Doing it now appears that you do not want to hear opposing opinions...

Nevertheless, enjoy your freedom of choice...I will not ignore you but that may change...One never knows how these things work out...

Merry Christmas to you and your family...

Have to agree with you. Differing points of view are usually interesting to me.

The only one I ever ignored was that one who couldn't spell, punctuate or type a complete sentence. I don't think he posts here anymore. He wasn't tough to read. He was impossible to understand.

  • The ignore feature is great. Allows users to cut through all the aggy and sooner troll posts and get to the real posts.

  • Isn't someone who whines and complains about whiners and complainers in fact a.....?

  • The ignore button and the downvote button should only be used when absolutely necessary. They get used way too often for stupid stuff

I didn't see a "Term of Use" for the ignore button anywhere when I signed up.

  • I have only used the ignore button on one person since I've been here. Every once in a while I un-ignore him and remember why I did it in the 1st place.

  • I have been around as long as anyone on this board and all the boards before. I am totally engaged with discussion and the topics that come up. What makes this place different MOST of the time is the desire to stay on topic.

I delete those who refuse to discuss and insist on venting their trash on line. Thats it.

This. Some folks seem to think the downvote button should be used as freely as the neg rep function on Shaggy. If you disagree with a post try offering a retort instead of just hitting the down arrow.

  • You are limited to one downvote per day. I have used the ignore feature on less than a half dozen people, all of whom were either Sooner or Aggie trolls or really blatant racists. BTW, anyone who tries to tell what I can and can't use it for is itching to be added.

I have 3 downvotes alloted per day. Maybe the more times you press the green arrow you get more red over time.

  • Why the threat at the end btw Bevo52? I don't see anyone trying to dictate your account ITT.

Agreed. The ignore feature is worthless to me. It is the internet for God's sake not life and death issue.

To each their own and ignore away for those that want to. If someone is using the ignore function regularly they might be a tad on the overly sensitive side and taking life too seriously side for my tastes.

  • There is a thread with no original poster. Are the boards acting up again? Weird.

Seems he has a fixation with ignore feature here - Man.

    Same here . . . but two.

One other nice element. When the ignored person actually says something that might remotely be worth reading, someone quotes it in a response anyway.

  • I just took 1 of 2 I had on ignore off. I guess I technically don't have anyone in ignore since Blackdog1 was banned.

You read it correctly. I wasn't trying to dictate who can and cannot use the button, just that i think it gets used way too often.
