  • Other than probably kissing any chance he had at becoming head coach good-bye, nothing more is going to happen to Major. This is all on Dodds and Powers now. I'm not sure of the procedures in place to notify the BOR of the situation, but really the more apt comparison would be to Cleve Bryant.

I think this really solidifies the ability to look outside of the current administration to find Dodd's replacement, which is a good thing as many believe Plonsky would have sued had she not been named the replacement.

Pretty slow news cycle the last few days.

We can't blame it on anything other than a coach (while admired by many people) did something that would get most people fired. It would be a big story anytime..............IMHO

No way this should keep him from being a head coach anywhere. He screwed up, fessed up, took the punishment. Let's move on.

I'm assuming you mean at UT and in the immediate future. Otherwise, I would say you're wrong.

I have to disagree. If it were thought to have been a career-killer, he wouldn't have been promoted.

  • What does this mean: "whereas Applewhite went to Dodds once his situation came to light."? The way I read it is that word got back to Deloss (or word was well on its way) and then MA admitted it...which is the way I understand it happened with Bev.

Yes, my take has been the same. I've seen nothing in Applewhite or DD's statements that said Applewhite self-reported the incident before he "got caught".

I may be wrong on that. But if Major self-reported it, I think that would have been clear in the statements that were released...especially Major's statement that we presume was at least reviewed by attorney JJ.

Bob...............UT never thought this would be on the front page. While not a career killer...........we need to remember Barry Switzer continued to coach after being caught in the sack with his DC's wife (and best friend) Rick Pitino is still coaching and Bobby Petrino got another job. However Major's biggest strength was his character..........in Texas lore he was up there with David Robinson, Tom Landry or Roger Staubach. That has taken a big hit..............Its a sad day for me (for Major's family first and then his career). I don't see how he ever becomes the HC at Texas.

A friend of mine asked me if Plonsky has played this to replace DeLoss. She has nothing good to say about Plonsky.

Exactly! Plonsky playing the PC card because otherwise she has no chance. She is like hugging a cactus. No one in the AD likes her & she is not very good at her job on top of it. Different deal when you come clean & fess up. Consensual & no charges from the other party. People make mistakes, it is how you handle them that determines the outcome.

That is the story Chip Brown and others are reporting.

The student trainer checked a box on a UT application that she had a relationship with a UT employee and then admitted it was Major Aplewhite.

Then Applewhite confessed when he was asked about it.

Seems to be a big disparity on how this is being reported and to me if it happened that he only confessed when asked about it then he probably was never going to come clean about it unless he got busted.

Also both Dodds' and Majors' statement the way it was worded alludes to he admitted it after being confronted.
