Spring training is exactly that.......SPRING TRAINING!! It will only tell us who is in the running to play where when the season starts. It won't tell us beans about whether this 2013 Longhorn team is really going to play like Texas Longhorns should, or will it be another year of misguided efforts by the highest paid coaches in college football with most of the best players in the state of Texas.
That question will not be answered until October 12 in Dallas against Oklahoma. Texas should come into that game 5-0 and with all the hype they get every year before Oklahoma. There is nobody in the first 5 games that should even come close to playing football with the Longhorns. New Mexico St? Yeah, right. BYU? Really? Ole Miss....NOT! Kansas ST....not this year. Iowa St......Yawn!
Once again, we'll look like world beaters to start the season. But then comes that seasonal test that has been a complete failure by our $1000.00 an hour head coach the last 3 years. So drink the Spring training KoolAid Mack serves up, get ready for a special batch after two-a-days and those first 5 cup cakes we play. The season starts and this team will be defined by that October 12th Saturday in Dallas. End of story.
