The "what have you done lately" extends everywhere in college football. If you barely have a winning record over the past 2 seasons, the prestige of a program, especially in the mind of a 17-year-old, deteriorates significantly. We as Texas fans can look at the program history and assign value to an offer, but Massington, Prevot, Rhodes, M. Smith, and D. Wilson probably don't see the extension of an offer as prestigious as it would have been two years ago, and that's just a hard truth to swallow. Honestly, most kids in the state including the aforementioned probably grew up Longhorn fans, but other coaches and fans from other schools have a lot of venom to spew Texas' way due to poor performance over the past couple of years. We can only hope that the trajectory of the program and a great 2012 season will overcome that mentality.
CTJ, while I essentially agree with most of your opines, expecially how OR used their rookie playmaker, I can tell you there is more to the story about your comment, on DJ, the "catch or not" statement...the huge element of versatility that DThomas offers
the Ducks, simply is not a reliable skill set of our guy (and that is stated as nicely as I could find words)...The limitations this presents in utilizing his break-away speed is thus limited severely...what happens here is the Ds key on the few run plays DJ has found success with...if I were the OC, I would thus limit his carries as well...
the words, "all-purpose back" just do NOT fit our guy, as unfortunate as that is...
How on earth was a move to WR even in the cards on DJ??? Strange...
Sadly, I think you might be right on the Prevot recruitment...I just do not get the vibe he feels comfortable being a Horn--for whatever the reasons...now, it gets very curious since he wants to obtain a business degree and none of the other programs are that close to what UT offers there...or, was he referring to another meaning for the "business" side of things??

To be honest, I kinda like these close recruiting battles. Adds excitement to the offseason.
