10 win seasons is the BS Kool-Aid Mack has been selling from day one. The goal is conference championships period not finishing second to OU and Stoops.
There where several mentions last night by the broadcast guys that TCU was starting 16 fresh and sophmores. Those teenagers were ready.
Great piece Jeff as always. Sometimes the truth hurts but reality is this feels more like a .500 season then a potential 10 win season. Strange all around and although there is no question Mack brought the school back when he was hired he also watched it decline to this point. I for one am not convinced he has it in him to bring it back this go around. If he stays on I hope to eat crow but the feeling for me is its time.
I have a hard time believing someone who was supposedly so close to turning over the reigns a few years back and had one foot out the door will suddenly have the emotional and pyschological makeup to gut it out. Its like a bad breakup where you don't want it to end but know it needs to end but you want to give it one more try even though your emotional investment and desire isnt really there so you go through the motions to try and make it work.
If a bullfrog had wings, it wouldn't bump its ass
Brutal is what UT will get a huge dose of next Sat. in Manhattan, Ks.
This game will reinforce what most of us figured out by week 4--that the UT team is weak, poorly coached, underachieving, about to implode internally, and disgusting to watch.
UT will get pounded into the turf by KSU, and will play in the Sun Bowl against another team that will use them as a circus tent peg.
Big change is what this team needs--Manny Diaz should have been fired after game 3: his defense is the laughing stock of the country.
And, the offense--where to start:
1. every team we have played loaded the box, and we tried to run right into it.................duh
2. we have olympic level players who are not playing.....1-2 plays a game
3. we have receivers who can't catch the ball, but start every week, and are rarely replaced, ever, even when they drop sure td's
4. our OL could not start for Hutto
5. qb play is spotty and very irregular
In closing, the fat lady is singing and will be carried out the door by a horde of transfers at mid-term, who are sick to death of the complacency, indifference, poor coaching, pampering of a select few, and same ole bs they hear every week. Folks, this party is over-----------how many of you know it, too?
