Like the hospital patient analogy. So true. We need to get the KState monkey off our back to get the mojo back on the team and the recruiting trail.
"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
The life support comment at the end is foolish hyperbole. This site never lacks for that.
A&M is having a great year (for them) this year despite getting very few players that Texas wanted over the last 10 years. The other Big 12 teams aren't cumulatively doing that much better than Okalhoma generally did by itself in Texas until just a couple of years ago. Our problem is that our staff doesn't seem to know a good high school player from an average one. Doesn't matter who picks first if you can't choose well.
Texas will put a lot of experienced talent on the field next year. They may not compete for a national championship, but they will be formidable even if Manny Diaz continues to make a sow's ear out of a silk purse.
Diaz was nowhere near ready for his current job, but at least there are indications that Mack in now aware of it. Jeffcoat and Hicks would be making a huge difference if they were on the field. Key injuries can screw any team in the areas that they are weakest. All of A&M's best players have been healthy this year. If both OT and DM go to the NFL at the end of this season, it's likely to be a different world for them next year. Their OL is special this year.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
