I thought Gideon played reasonably well in 2008 and 2009 and don't blame him for losing to Tech any more than I blame about 100 things we did to screw that game up (clock management, hello!). He was a solid and fundamental tackler those seasons.
But he was just bad in 2010. He tried to be a head hunter and would blindly attempt to spear opposing players, frequently drawing flags and once knocking our best corner out of the game. Then the genius says to the media that he was going to keep doing it and not change his approach despite the flags. This technique also caused us to give up a ton of big plays when he'd whiff.
Basically, he was a good player when he tried to wrap a ball carrier up and awful when he decided half way through his career to be a head hunter.
In any event, no way he gets on the field in either 2008 or 2009 if Robert Joseph does not idiot out.

My favorite part was when he would tackle head down and not wrap up. Sometimes he would miss and a player they would get a big gain, but other times he got a targeting flag and would talk smack after.
That was the best.
