Surprised there aren't any comments on Gideon yet. IMO though it's hard to argue with four years as a starter (however polarizing as they may be) when you come in so unheralded.

Not sure I buy Kenny and Kheeston as both were 4 star guys and heavily targeted.

I don't get the hate for Gideon (other than his skin color), why aren't those people more critical of the 4 star guys he kept on the bench?

Charlie Tanner and Adam U leap to mind as better candidates to me than K&K (I think both were awesome but not 'underrated').

Marquis Goodwin should get some consideration as a 3 star guy.

Have to give a shout out to Jeff Howe, the original guru who said "watch out for Joe B, he's not just a FB".

Gideon's freshman year he was awesome. I remember him running down several receivers (not his covered ones) and tackling before they could score the 80-yard play. Sadly, he didn't continue this ability.

hopefully that dual threat QB dingus has already been banned...

Vacarro was a 3 star?

I'll have to adjust my comments on him in that case, thought he was a 4.

Since Gerry is about the only guru I pay attention too, I stand by my Randall comment.

I'd have Vaccaro higher, simply because of how stellar he's been.

But I have zero issues with Gideon where he's at. Flawed or not, the guy started every game for 4 years, including a title run. When lined up beside Earl Thomas, he was nothing short of solid.

I'll be interested to see if Vaccaro's little bro makes the list in a few years.

i don't disagree with #3 on the list exactly but anyone who actually saw JB play in high school knew full well that we got a big time player.

my question is this, and I don't know how to properly quantify the answer, but how big is the gap between a 3 star vs. a 4 star guy?

My suspicious is that the gap isn't all that great. Also, star system, for the most part, is a measurement tangible attributes, e.g. size, speed, force, power, and to some degree, agility, but I'm not sure how you measure a player's intellect, toughness, or desire. I would further argue that at the college level, desire and intelligence can sometimes trump raw talent.

It didn't take long for the coaches to figure that out, too. Seemed like it was pretty immediate last offseason when we started hearing that Bergeron looked a lot more like a full-time RB than a FB.

If he can continue to build off his freshman year he may be on top of this list if we revisit it down the road.
