The way I look at the schedule, I predict that one as an L for the Horns as of right now.

  • Wouldn't count on Marquise Goodwin this season because for Olympics time alway from football (he should redshirt this year which help draft selection for football in 2014 draft)

Let's see how London goes. My guess is he comes back. That's the general thinking of the coaches.

If he plays this year it's going to take half the season to get in football shape and have much impact on the field, which will hurt his draft status

  • 11-1. Fix the kicking game and we will make some noise this year!!!!!!!
Hope we he had all of our bad luck last year with injuries.

If he comes back, he'll have more time this fall to get into shape than he did last fall, and he'll be more experienced in Harsin's scheme. He didn't decide to play football until after the first game last year and didn't begin practicing with the team until after the Rice game. The long jump is August 3/4, and the closing ceremonies are August 12. If he left after the long jump finals, he'd have the entirety of fall camp to get back in the swing of things.

I feel like the second year in the scheme means the most. While not in ideal football shape, it's not like he's out of shape either.

  • The defense should at the very minimum keep Texas in every game ... Including against OU

  • IMO, the defense being in the second year is at least as important as the offense being in it's second year.

I read over here that the defense will be great. Well, OUs defense wont be bad either.

Came back and played in the very next game last year if I recall. His experience is needed. The only issue is how much he will have left in the tank. Track commitment is heavy and his event is hard on the legs.

  • Nice sensisble analysis. I do think we get OU though because our QB will hold up better and actually make some plays; our secondary will cover better; and our pass rush will get to their QB. They have a phantom run game.

True but it is missing a couple of really high impact pieces form last years version and the replacements are not nearly as good. But I agree, OU will be OU.
The challenge for OU is they played against a very young squad last year. The squad is much better because of seasoning. The QB they saw last year is also much better. There won't be 5 TOs this year. Finally, the D they faced last year was learning the ropes. They will find a new more experienced version of that D this year. It will be rather low scoring but we win.

True story. The question in Norman will be on the DL. They're going to need somebody to step up there to be as good as they want to be IMO.

Hey, we will see. Our boys werent exactly old either. We didnt lose that much and played a ton of people at positions all over the field. We are a year more experienced also. I am looking forward to seeing this defense of yours.

    Dave,

For me, its LB not the DL that is a concern. The DL will be stout for sure, especially with Wade and Phillips being added to the rotation with McGee, McFarland and Walker. LB is thin so thats what concerns me, but we played a lot of them last year in important minutes and they did well, so we will see. Phillips is the name to look for. Gerald McCoy, Tommy Harris type talent right there.
