Bottom line to me on Ash is:
1) He is an above average competitior. He has that fire in his belly. He has more "it" than most. As much as I like Case, he looked scared out there much of the time and that affects the entire team. I like the swagger Ash carries.
2) Neither McCoy nor Ash really had any Spring ball last year. They were given only spot opportunities at best. No D1 quarterback can be successful when going from an afterthought to a Bowl starter with a first year offensive coordinator and a completely new scheme, an injured Shipley and a checked-out Davis while learning on the job like he did. Death sentence.
I say "bravo" for Ash last year. It was ugly at times, but I understand why. This year, he is the undisputed starter and has been given all the attention he needs and more. He's known this since January and he is sitting at home right now mulling through exactly what will happen in the Fall. He's now had a chance to prepare as a starter. Add in a healthy and improved offensive line, plus Malcolm, Joe & Jonathan and I expect we will all be pleasantly surprised come Fall. Mark it down.
