"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
Mack Brown hired this staff. This is the staff that he sold to a fanbase and more importantly to donors and alumni that it would get Texas back to the top. Whatever comes of next season Mack appears to be willing to ride with his hand-picked staff for better or for worse.
If Manny comes back, Mack clearly thinks that he is bigger than the program. I can't support a douche bag like that.
Who knows...2013 might be our year. Afterall, who would have predicted KS or aTm would have the year they did this year. I always felt that what Texas needs is not talent...or even possibly coaching (I know, insert downvote here!). But more on focus and motivation. And getting rid of that damn idea that we should win JUST because we're Texas. I hope a lot of people (players AND coaches) are scared of their job going into the new year. I do think next year is a do or die year.

For fans, the A&M H. win means several things. First that superior performance by University athletes playing in our great state does receive positive recognition. The last two awards have gone to our State. One played in the Big 12 and one in the SEC. Second, neither of these man played for our University. That has been discussed quite a bit on this board. Third, we have to each ask the question just what do we expect out of college football. For me, it seeing young men playing in a mock war with pride honor and fame on the line. I enjoy good college football even if UT is not involved. H wins in your area will get the attention of young men seeking to be the best and get the most attention.
That brings us to recruiting. Rationally 18 year olds live in the moment. They will hear the SEC superior conference media spill, They will hear the excitement of Bama, LSU, and yes A&M fans. It means that recruiting just got harder for our team in my opinion. Where will UT go from here? I suspect one way or another we will be back on top. The question is how long and who will be the coach. If the world does not end I will watch the Texas game and root for our lads to win. I will root for every Texas team to win their game. I will root for Bama to show the world that ND is just a bunch of hot air. God bless Texas

Coach is rolling the dice that Coach Diaz's 2013 version of his Defense, will return, ascend, to a Top Ranked Defense.
That the new Offensive Lineman and Defensive Lineman will return Texas to an elite College Football program. Mauling opposing Defenses and creating havoc to opposing Offenses. Special Teams remain a question.
"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Newy, you are crazy if you think the stadium was only 75% full for the TCU game. Maybe at the end of the game. There were no more than 5,000 emply seats for that game (probably fewer) and most of them were in the student sections.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
I've been very impressed with Billings' tape. Is his height the only thing preventing him from being a 5 star? He simply looks like a man among boys. Do you think he can realistically push for early playing time if he ends up with the horns?
It's easy to believe Mack isn't going anywhere but I'm against keeping Diaz. If Mack does this he will lose a core fanbase that will jump ship after a loss to OU or any other conference foes. Defense is much easier to replace than offense and I don't care about the hype around a commitment for one year. There are a helluva lot of coaches that would give their eye teeth to coach at Texas even for just a year.
