It was great to see Ash "grow up" in this game. He got better as the game went on and you could see the confidence & swagger build. Instead of checking down to short passes, he started checking into deep passes. That pass he threaded to Davis between the two defenders deep was a thing of beauty (no hesitation and hit him in stride) and Davis made a great catch (holding onto that ball as he got hit) that he would not have made last year. Best comment Brock Huard made was when Bergeron got upset he didn't score that TD on a short run up the middle near the goal line. "When you share carries, you don't know if you will get another chance, so you want to score". We are seeing the results of that competitive depth, no one takes a play off in that backfield. And with Bergeron hurt, it just gives Malcolm and Gray more carry opportunities along with Daje and DJ. It's just insane to think that if we lose our top 2 RBs (hopefully not like last year), we could be unleashing the greatest talent of all in Gray. You can see how this depth will pay huge dividends later in the season (barring season ending injuries) as these backs are not all banged up and still have fresh legs. Just have to keep those big uglies up front healthy, they played a great game. No sacks and only a couple of hurries on Ash that I remember. Congrats to the offense!
"Pavlov was this scientist guy, you know, and every time this dog would ring a bell, Pavlov would eat."
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
