"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
Shipley did have a great game. I'm glad you pointed it out. He delivered !!!!
The best thing in Ash's development is he's crossing the line from being a quarterback where taking care of the football supersedes absolutely everything, to having the confidence to make a big play when it's on his shoulder. The Longhorns' sophomore signal caller is maturing and coming of age before our very eyes.
We don't win last night (or I suspect several games this year) without the stellar play from Ash that we are getting this season.
"Players who made the win possible" -All 4 are on offense. Wow this is just so different from what I expected this year
Can we have a
3a or a
4a to fit Shipley in there somewhere? 3 TD's
I know it's hard to judge someone's demeanor based on text, but I wish JJ and Oak would get a little more pissed off at just how shitty that side of the ball has played. I may be wringing my hands unneccessarily here, because again I'm going based solely their written words but it doesn't sound like there's much of a sense of urgency right now to fix the problem.
We aren't getting any back-side pursuit from our tackles and linebackers . Most of their running yardage came off tackle on Jeffcoat's side. Their end was kicking him outside and completely taking him out of the play; and our middle linebackers were nowhere to be seen.
One positive of the D was only giving up 2 TDs in 5 red zone tries. Given the O they faced and the game situation, I'd say snuffing out 12 points + a 2 point conversion were pretty big. But that is taking "bend but don't break" a bit too far for my comfort level.

-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Diaz said, “What we learned tonight is that if you don't give up big plays, you can win the game in the red zone,” Diaz said. “That's what we were able to do, especially through the middle part of the game, to give us a chance to win the football game.”
Except they did give up big plays. As a matter of fact I counted them giving up 9 plays that were 15 yards or greater. Four touchdowns given up in drives that were less then two minutes implies giving up big plays.
I think Mack needs to tell Manny that he had better get his Defense fixed soon. He has been known to clean house!
