Umm....no. But with Knebel pitching you have to like Texas' chances better than Thursday night. The bats are going to have to produce and Knebel is going to have to pitch deep into this game for Texas to have a shot IMO.
Knebel gets the Bears in order in the top of the 1st with two pop ups and a grounder to first. He looks to be throwing well to start things, but we knew he would. The question is how long he'll be able to pitch at the level we're used to seeing.
Jonathan Walsh gets the first hit of the night on what looked like a really bad call by the first base ump. Walsh hit a liner back to the pitcher who knocked it down, picked it up and threw to first. Looked like the ball beat him, but Walsh was called safe and the Longhorns have a little something going here in the first.
As I type that Jacob Felts follows with a base hit up the gut to give Texas runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs.
Horns can't get anything out of their early rally. Alex Silver grounds to third for the final out of the first. The inning started with a Payton grounder to short and a strikeout by Weiss.
Knebel allows his first hit of the game, but Texas calls a perfect pitch-out to catch Dan Evatt trying to steal second to end the inning. Knebel also got his first strikeout of the game in the second. Two down and the former closer is looking good.
Quick 2nd inning for the Horns. Lusson, Etier and Maitland go down in order with a fly out and two grounders. They only force Blank to throw 10 pitches in the inning.
Knebel walks a batter and hits a batter in the 3rd but Baylor can't get anything home. Nathan Orf just broke the Big 12 record for most times hit by a pitch with 28 on the season.
Baylor should have had two hits in the 3rd as well, including a solo home run. The win is holding things up in right field. Horns dodged a bullet.
Longhorns lose out on a golden opportunity with two men on and one out in the bottom of the 3rd. Payton and Weiss reached back to back with a hit and walk, respectively, but a fielder's choice to first by Walsh and a check-swing strikeout by Felts ended Texas' rally.
Still scoreless entering the 4th. Texas has 3 hits to Baylor's 1.
Knebel struggling in the 4th. Probably should have given up a run or two in the third but was helped out by the win, this inning he gave up a four-pitch walk to start the inning.
He got a visit from Skip Johnson and looks like he's settled down a little, but he's not out of the woods yet.
Knebel gets out of it thanks to a nice pick off throw by Felts (and tag by Etier) to catch his second base runner of the game at second, and a good play on a come-backer to end the inning.
Silver, Lusson, Etier due up for Texas in the bottom of the 4th.
For the second straight inning Texas has a runner on third with two outs and can't get him home. In the third it was Jacob Felts with a check-swing strike out and in the fourth it was Tim Maitland with a called third strike.
Alex Silver started the inning off with a hit to short. After a bunt and a fly ball he was at third with two outs, but couldn't get across the plate.
57....He'll go until Baylor really starts tagging him. He's been a little erratic recently and the Bears have been getting solid contact, but a look at the scoreboard shows no runs and only one hit, so he's not going anywhere yet.
Knebel comes out looking good in the fifth, getting two called third strikes. He did have a ball carry all the way to the warning track down the left field line, but Walsh was there to get the out.

Horns go quietly in the bottom of the fifth. Marlow swung at a pitch that wasn't anywhere close to go down on strikes and then Payton and Weiss both lined out to right.
Still scoreless heading into the 6th. Texas has four hits to Baylor's one.
Knebel up to 75 pitches after a 1-2-3 inning in the 6th. Three ground outs to the right side made it a very quick inning for Baylor. Knebel really looks like he's settled down since Johnson's visit to the mound back in the 4th inning.
Walsh, Felts, Silver due up for Texas in the bottom of the 6th.
Great play by Baylor shortstop Jake Miller to rob Alex Silver of a base hit. Miller ranged to snag the ball behind second, did a quick 180 and threw a dart to first to beat Silver by a half step. Phenomenal play.
Unfortunately for the Longhorns that ended the inning after Walsh and Felts both grounded to second.
