**Texas vs. No. 25 Iowa State (FINAL)**

It's do or die time for Texas in the Big 12 tournament. A win tonight over Iowa State likely gets UT in the Dance, a loss and Texas will find itself on the outside looking in.

I agree. Win and we're in the bubble. Lose , our bubble bursts. We need a huge game out of Brown; though need him to stay inside the offense as much as possible. Also would be a pleasant surprise if Chapman repeated his regular season performances against ISU. Hopefully, Bonds and Holmes don't foul out too quickly against White.

Those uniforms are disgustingly hideous. They look like a bunch of damned highlighters out there.

I might go with a 4 guard lineup and Chapman.

Kabongo, Brown, Lewis, McClellan, and Chapman. That way you keep the 2 fish bigs out of early foul trouble. Chapman has to play fundamentally sound defense and give up the easy chances early. Texas needs 25+ minutes from him tonight to have any chance of winning.

I still say win and we're in. No bubble. In.

Bonds and Holmes have to stay out of foul trouble, and that could be difficult. They combined for 16 fouls in 58 minutes in the first two games.

This could mean a lot of 4 guard lineups in which either McClellan or Lewis has to cover White while the remaining big is underneath with Ejim or Gibson. (Booker tends to float outside to shoot 3's but is an offensive rebounding threat.)

ISU isn't just a good three point shooting team. It is the best in the conference (.385, with Missouri second at .383 and Baylor third at .365). If Texas had the fouls to give, I'd let White shoot outside or drive and foul him on the drive, while blanketing the three point shooters, but Texas might not have the fouls to give over the course of the game.

Finally, Texas has to really work for second chance points today, but it can't have the big guys get fouls that way. ISU is the best defensive rebounding team in conference play by a lot, so Holmes, Bond, Chapman, and the guards are going to have to really work to get the second chance opportunities that Texas will desperately need tonight.

I like that idea but does anybody know if Lewis is going to play tonight? I know he was injured from previous games with his back.

Baylor is literally trying to transform itself into the Oregon of SW.

Bierce; I said "in" the bubble, not on the bubble. Win we're in.

We'll probably start Holmes in Wangneme's spot. We desperately need 70 minutes out of Holmes, Bonds and Chapman. White will physically abuse McClellan if he has to slide to the four.

  • Seeing various angles of the Mizzou-OSU game I think I'm seeing a lot of Iowa State fans in Kansas City tonight. Won't make things any easier for Texas.

  • anyone think Chapman makes it to the 10 minute mark in the first half before sitting with 3 fouls?

  • Anyone want to take final score predictions?

    I say Texas 78 isu 74.

I do, because he will sit the rest of the first half with 2 unless Bond or Holmes picks up a third and a 4 guard lineup is proving to be completely ineffective.

  • Yup, it's not too far of a drive. Well, it's not a short drive, but it's not as far as Austin.

I might get pilloried for this, but I do not see a good result happening tonight.

    ISU 77 Texas 62

I really hope I'm wrong. Barnes has had teams come up with wins in equally critical situations before, but since the teams played in january, ISU is 8-3 and Texas is 6-5, and the teams have played nearly identical schedules.

    OU x2 (even--Texas by 19, ISU by 18)
@ OSU (advantage ISU--2 point loss, Texas lost by 12)
A&M (advantage ISU--23 point home win trumps 2 point road win)
Tech (even, sort of. Texas didn't impress by needing OT in Lubbock. Similar margins for both at home)
KSU (advantage ISU--home and road win trumps 11 point home win)
Baylor (advantage ISU, Texas home loss, ISU home win; road loss)
KU (advantage ISU--ISU home win; TExas home loss)
MU (slight ISU advantage--Texas home loss; ISU road loss by 6)

Now add the loss of Wangmene.

ISU is better, it is playing better, it is closer to home, it matches up strengths to Texas's weaknesses, and it is healthy.

The broadcasters just mentioned it, but White looks like he's on autopilot right now.
