In my opinion I believe it would be better to see what this team can do in the N I T rather the the big dance. It's time to call a spade a spade. This team is just to young and to inexperience to make any kind of run in the big dance. It was just a matter of time before recruiting one and done players would catch up to the horns. One thing though. I do like watching this young team grow every game.

I have thought about this as well. While you always want to make it to the tournament because of the excitement, it may be better for this team if they could win a few games in the NIT.

You're right. It is completely stupid to suggest that it MAY be better for our young team to potentially play 3-4 games in the NIT and get an extra week or two of extra practice, then to play one game in the NCAA tournament.

If we have a more experienced team this isn't a question. But as a 9 seed with 2 guys 6'7 or taller, it MAY be better to go NIT and get more work.

I would be disappointed in a NIT appearance, but it MAY be better for the young guys.

I think you're missing the most important point. First off, we wont be a 9 seed. More like an 11 or 12. Secondly, its not about going to the NIT for experience. This team composed of mainly freshmen have about 31 games of "experience". The post season is about having a chance. If we're not in the dance, then that chance is lost. Its much better to have a shimmer of hope, however bleak it may be. At least the chance is there. Give these kids a taste, and make them hungry for more come next year.

this means we're on television right? that glorious Sunday moment where the worst teams are the last ones in screaming in jubilation, or the devestated "how in the hell were we left out?" that, and what small school(s) is/are going to shatter the dreams of a high seedi in the first round, are the story of the tournament and the best part of it.

I would be surprised if Texas got home games in the NIT.
Small turnout would be expected.
NIT usually gives schools that are going to get good ticket sales the home games.

Depends, Texas may be headed for a play-in game.

whoa on that one. It's happened a lot. It's a great way to tourney toughen a young team playing game after game with lose you're out pressure. NIT is the way to go to help the team get better, NCAA for the pride side of the equation for fans and players alike.

I'm of the opinion that the NCAA tournament is always the best option. First off, you can never sell recruits on playing in the NIT so our streak of making the NCAA tournament is quite valuable. Second, there is no substitute for the experience of playing in the big dance. The competition, exposure, pressure and everything else that comes with it is something that our young players need to see asap and the NIT will not be a substitute. Playing one NCAA tourney game is worth far more in my opinion than four NIT games.

I'd rather take the NCAA xperience, even if it's one game. They've already played 30-plus games in college, and a couple of more compared to one more won't make that much difference.

This will be the first year in a long time that most of the pieces return.

This team will either make the jump in the offseason or it won't. The good thing is that there are six freshmen and each one of them could be a guy that takes "The Leap"
